It is vg and yy to mm. He is gorgeous in it - though obv am 'enjoying the story' as far as DH is concerned. It's funny because usually Matthew M holds little to no appeal for me otherwise, outside of true detective.

FunkyBoldRibena · 16/03/2014 13:25

We watch it and as I am from North America it is easier to hear the mumbling; I have to explain it to the OH who is a Derbyshire lad born and bred. Also why I have to order everything if we go to the States as nobody understands him.

On the topic of MM. You are not mistaken. Sizzling.

ScarlettOHaraHamilton · 16/03/2014 13:28

Never liked him, he's not my type. But I do Rust until he begged for mercy. Though I doubt he would...

ThatVikRinA22 · 16/03/2014 14:37

ive never liked him before....but in this...hot hot hot. i would. Its just a brilliant series too.

Lol I'm exactly the same, never had any attraction to mmc but after last nights episode.....hose me down with holy water!!!! It was soooo good tho I didn't want it to end....like your name by the way vicar ;-)

RayPurchase · 16/03/2014 16:04

Ditto Scarlett, although I didn't feel that way until last night's ep Blush

basildonbond · 16/03/2014 16:33

ditto ... again had never seen the appeal but after last night's episode am a convert ...

Eminybob · 16/03/2014 16:33

Really? I'm just watching the first episode and I didn't even recognise him at first!
To be honest I never really fancied him anyway but I think he looks dog rough in true detective. (Sorry)

ScarlettOHaraHamilton · 16/03/2014 16:43

Haven't seen ep 4 yet - I take it DP will be in for a good night, between that and The Musketeers? Wink

Lighthousekeeping · 16/03/2014 20:58

He smokes those fags like he's smoking a dooby.

NinetyNinePercentTroll · 16/03/2014 21:16

The smoking is rank but otherwise, hubbahubba

ScarlettOHaraHamilton · 16/03/2014 21:20

Oh, I was all excited for episode 4. You all got my hopes up!

MM is much hotter with suntan and tight suits than as a druggy biker.

Plus I'd heard so much about that last 7-minute tracking shot and it wasn't quite as good as I thought it would be.

Lighthousekeeping · 16/03/2014 21:23

I must admit in finding it hard going.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 16/03/2014 21:24

Yes, I've been enjoying MM very much in this Smile. He is gorgeous in those suits as young Rust

ScarlettOHaraHamilton · 16/03/2014 21:30

Oh, I really like it but I'm seeing it as a novel - its the unreliable narrator on screen - we think that what we're seeing is true, and perhaps it is, but its also coloured by Rust and Hart's interpretation and memory of events, and coloured by us knowing that they are being asked about the case again 17 years on, and so much else. It's almost impossible to really get across that level of unreliability and potential false trails and turns well on screen, it's good to see.

Woody Harrelson is also amazing. I potentially would with Hart, too...

LAlady · 16/03/2014 21:30

I'm enjoying it but seriously considering watching it with subtitles.

ThatVikRinA22 · 16/03/2014 23:42

lol lalady - i keep having to rewind bits....

my pal is in Oz and just said if i need a hose down after episode 4 get ready for episode 6....

this is one of those series that i actually cant wait for saturday nights....

i love the whole brooding, real, brave honesty of Rust....what did Hart call him? Mr Charisma....Smile

think woody harrelson is brilliant and in some ways has a harder role to play - Rust is what he is but Hart is more complex....more multi faceted.
id still do Rust first......

dh says there is talk of a second series but probably not with the same actors....a different story.
this one is living up to all my expectations.

I watched episode 4 last night and it hit me all of a sudden. I've never seen it before but oh my god...... Mattew McConaughey is gorgeous!!!

Plus this is one of the best if not THE best thing on tv right now. If you haven't seen it already, The Guardian have a fantastic blog for TD that is worth a read Grin

ThatVikRinA22 · 18/03/2014 13:35

oooo wheres the blog? i think ive watched ep 4 about 5 times now....

ThatVikRinA22 · 14/04/2014 22:36

anyone see the last one? i loved it. heart in mouth.

i cried.

i would like to watch the entire thing again from the first episode but ive checked sky on demand and you can only get episodes 5 - 8....the first 4 have "expired"....

what do you think they did after they got their man?
i absolutely loved Rust. and by the end, Marty.

Did his wife go back to Marty? Dh thought she had a wedding ring on when she went to the hospital - but i wasnt clear whether that was for him or whether she had got remarried since they split in 2002?
