What's the story? We've had a power cut so I just saw up to when she walked into the living room to talk to her dad. Is she mick's mum?

I think the mum left, the dad couldn't cope and put Danny Dyer and the sister with the mad hat's into care. The dad was horrible to Shirley. Think that was it, only half watching.
