Silent Witness is pants, but I still watch it. It's completely obvious who did it at the end of the first episode, so you have to watch the second episode trundling along, hoping there's going to be a twist but knowing there probably won't be.

loveliesbleeding1 · 26/01/2014 22:24

It went round in a circle, the turkish guy whose uncle wanted him dead, gave said uncle the baby, who then bribed the bent copper , so bent copper took the nephew to the uncle instead of 50,000 pounds?,but why didn't the uncle kill the nephew when he brought the baby to him? Its not like the uncle didnt know the bent copper.oh, now ive confused myself even more, am going to bedGrin

Valiant1 · 27/01/2014 13:03

I couldn't understand why they killed the nephew when they did.

What exactly does new boss do? At least Leo used to go out and shag someone occasionally.

2rebecca · 27/01/2014 15:35

The killing the nephew and particularly being willing to accept him in exchange for money when the uncle had access to him for free a few days previously and had the baby which he could have sold made no sense, neither did dodgy cop kidnapping a baby. Awful plot. They went for melodrama over believability.

anonacfr · 27/01/2014 22:23

About the first mother I didn't even think of midwives and hospitals. I kept thinking two days after birth she would have been leaking from everywhere- she could have whipped up her sanitary pad and shown the cops.
That would have shut them up.

In a sick way I was relieved Nuri was killed by his cousin. I had visions of him being sold off for his organs and operated on alive. Don't know why but it was a horrible thought.

loveliesbleeding1 · 27/01/2014 22:32

Yes, there were plenty of ways to prove she had just given birth. As for nuris mum sleeping with her nephew, mucky so and so.
I really hope this weeks is better.

anonacfr · 27/01/2014 23:02

It was disappointing. Just when we had a thread discussing how good/better the storylines were last week, this one was rubbish.
They were obviously working on the whole dead pregnancy/ snatched baby from womb idea and built a silly plot around it.

Moln · 29/01/2014 08:11

he was her nephew? I was trying to work it out. Wasn't sure who the cousins were. He had to be Nuri's father's nephew surely, or it would have been commented on!

diddl · 29/01/2014 09:06

I assumed that the nephew was killed for being a "grass", and that he was relatively "safe" whilst Brooke was keeping an eye on him.

Also assumed he was a liability as had been in prison.

mileysorearse · 29/01/2014 12:53

If I got this right he was going to kill Nuri over the missing drugs, then didn't as they thought they could trade the baby for the drugs, then they couldn't get the drugs back so the bent copper traded Nuri for the baby. Killing him didn't get the drugs back so why give the baby back? They could have killed the bent cop too and sold the baby.

And surely they should have at least offered the baby to the natural father?

diddl · 29/01/2014 14:07

He thought the copper would get the drugs for the baby, so it didn't matter if he killed Nuri?

The father thought that the girl had had an abortion.
Not on bc, no pr, no proof it was his-why would he be offered?

mileysorearse · 29/01/2014 14:44

I thought they had the baby's DNA, that is how they traced the father.

diddl · 29/01/2014 15:05

Yes, of course-forgot thatBlush

Valiant1 · 29/01/2014 18:09

that's what I said but my sister said she wouldn't take the baby on Sad i would have done Grin the more the merrier Wink

PaulaAtMummyKnowsBest · 30/01/2014 14:53

The dad couldn't take the baby on as he wasn't the mums next of kin. The baby's grandfather was the mums next of kin which is why he got the baby.

diddl · 30/01/2014 15:17

That makes no sense to me at all tbh.

I know that he thought the girl had had an abortion, but it was his child-he is the baby's NOK, isn't he?

Valiant1 · 30/01/2014 15:32

well if he is the Dad them surely he should of been offered the baby? If has parental responsibility!

OP posts:
diddl · 30/01/2014 15:52

Well he wouldn't have had PR would he as they weren't married and the mother was dead before the baby could even be registered!

It just seems odd that the baby would have been given to the GF & the father seemingly walk away from his responsibilities!

Still, it's not as if the programme is realistic!

PaulaAtMummyKnowsBest · 31/01/2014 11:54

here this explains about parental rights

diddl · 31/01/2014 12:54

That's interesting.

Valiant1 · 31/01/2014 18:39

I am confused about how Jack, who isn't a pathologist, could potentially be replaced with Haydn Gwynne who is? Quite a large salary discrepancy I would have thought? Also, how can he afford that loft place?
