After 42 years and over 2000 editions, the BBC's weekly chart show announces its very last Number One tonight.

Sir Jimmy Saville looks stunning, and very old, in his shimmery gold outfit.
I'm reliving my youth tonight. DH are sat here laughing at all the presenters from the past - some of them don't look much different!

There are no mainstream pop music programmes on terrestrial tv now. It's all freeview etc.

There used to be quite a few (in the old days)

Thomcat · 30/07/2006 22:52

He's being interviewed lods on it.
He did the voice over from 1960 (1st show ever) to the 70's and then he became head of light ent in the early 80's.

southeastastra · 30/07/2006 23:22

Tommy · 30/07/2006 23:44

love seeing John Peel - made me realise how much I miss him....

TwoIfBySea · 31/07/2006 00:56

I can't be the only one here who used to watch TOTP then do the Pan's People dance routines with my friends the next day. Looking at it there no wonder they were so easy to do.

And I just realised why my dad was so eager for me to watch TOTP! Durr!
