MsNobodyAgain · 07/01/2014 20:57

This is a thread for all fans of the daytime soap 'Doctors', BBC1, 1.45pm. All welcome, newbies, lurkers and regulars.

Quick New Year Resolutions:

  • Mrs T will wear her flirty wig more often.
  • Heston will develop a deep and lasting love for a woman in a flirty wig whose name begins with W.
  • Howard will pursue his fishing interest so we see him in fishing gear and getting wet at every opportunity.
  • 6tl will resolve to burn her shit blouses and perish in the fire.

I am sure you can all think of more.

Let the WTF commence! Grin

It was the 5 ream box they didn't have, she asked for 5 and he said they only had 10's.

Typical doctors that she's got her hand on the burn not a dressing!

MsNobodyAgain · 21/01/2014 14:11

If I was TBFE I would have closed the door and let Gobbyplod finish what he started.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2014 14:12

TBFE is too good to let even a scumbag get a beating.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 21/01/2014 14:13

Getting my reams muddled up then. It certainly looked far too light to have 10 reams in.

Well, Gobbyplod has turned into a complete loose cannon, hasn't he?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/01/2014 14:14

TBFE is just lovely.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2014 14:21

Don't get why Gobby was so excited about remembering something when she so desparately doesn't want to be the person she had become before the accident?

Juliealpha · 21/01/2014 14:55

sorry, new to all this. can't find these acronyms. help please

TBFE

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/01/2014 15:03

OodlesofOods · 21/01/2014 15:17

Make yourself comfy in the waiting room.

toldmywrath · 21/01/2014 16:55

Juliealpha welcome to the lovely thread of Doctors-take & seat in our spacious waiting room(there's rarely any patients in the waiting room)

Juliealpha · 21/01/2014 17:40

Thank you everyone.

Anneeyhtmeyer. I've been watching doctors on and off for years, used to live up the road from where it's filmed. Currently on maternity leave, so it's. now a staple in my daily routine Smile Smile

AnneEyhtMeyer · 21/01/2014 19:01

It is brilliant, isn't it? We all watch at different times, but there are normally at least a couple on the thread when it is on.

If you've been watching for years you should be pretty much up to speed, but if there's anything you want explaining just ask. We'll sympathise as it never makes sense to us either, so at least you won't feel alone. Grin

OodlesofOods · 21/01/2014 19:10

Maternity leave the greatest Doctors thread recruiter!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 21/01/2014 20:50

Welcome Julie - I started watching when I had 6 weeks off work after an operation 18 months ago, I only manage 2 or 3 episodes most weeks now but this thread keeps me on track Smile.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2014 21:07

Hi Juliealpha, I'm a childminder and my children sleep in the afternoons so apart from school holidays I watch peacefully :) I watched when on maternity leave with my first in 2007 but then went back to work when he was 6months, started minding December 2008 and soon after started watching regularly :)

curlyclaz13 · 21/01/2014 21:31

cinnamon can I ask you a cm type question, I am meeting a potential cm for my 9mo (when I return to work), what should I be asking and looking for ? I know a lot is on gut reaction but I am so clueless and in denial about having to return to work full time that I would appreciate a bit of advice.

OodlesofOodles · 21/01/2014 21:45

I'm currently off work (either sick or annual leave, no one has told mr which yet Hmm) following mat leave but I've been watch Doctors since my last mat leave.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2014 21:48

Definitely gut! I'd hope that other children would be there so you can see how they interact. Practical things are Ofsted certificate on display, insurance, risk assessments, policies which I recommend you read. I would ask about EYFS which is the current framework cm should be working with and to look at a learning journey to give you an idea of activities that she does who the children but she may say no to looking at the learning journey but should have photos you can see. I would also ask about other commitments such as school runs as I know another cm who does preschool pick up at 11.30 nursery drop off at 12.20 so kids are dragged in and out lots every day and have a rushed lunch between those times. They also say that you should be suspicious of a cm that isn't home much but I'm not sure why that's a problem. I go to toddler groups twice a week and singing in the library one morning. Afternoons are home as my children all sleep. Ds1 used to have his morning nap in a pushchair as his childminder was out most mornings but that was fine for me. Ask what is included in fees, I don't charge for food for example, I charge for child's sickness and holidays but not all for mine but I know others who charge for lunches and garage half fee for all holiday and sickness. Also how flexible they will be on sickness, I'm quite strict on sickness bugs, conjunctivitis, impetigo etc but I'll have coldy children unless they really need to be at home with mum IMO but I usually give it a try. I would expect toys appropriate to your ds's age to be out when you arrive and for her to interact with him as much if not more than you. Plus cleanliness would be a big thing for me with little ones at crawling age :)

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2014 21:49

Sorry that was gigantic!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 21/01/2014 21:50

Curly - I'd be asking about the daily routine, how many other children there are and what ages, are they going to be going out in the car, what about car seats, pick up and drop off times, payment during holidays, payment terms in general, food, have they got animals, what will they be doing all day, sickness policy, what happens if the CM or their own children are ill, sleeping arrangements, etc, etc.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2014 21:51

And not very well proof read!

curlyclaz13 · 21/01/2014 22:24

Thanks ! I will have to take a notebook to remember it all. Grin
