SCD 2013 #6: The semi-finals are here!

Following on from the last thread.

I'm looking forward to seeing two dances from everybody. The music choices don't look bad either relatively speaking.

Bizarrely there's only one couple (Patrick and Anya) who have two of the usual ten dances, the others all have AT/AS/salsa. Natalie and Artem don't have a ten dance at all.

I think they're are reading this - Natalie said she didn't think people thought she'd "been on a journey" on ITT last night. [arf]

digerd · 18/12/2013 07:17

The excerpt shown last night of Natalie's Cha Cha did not look good. Wondering why the judges called it their choice to be danced again ?

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 18/12/2013 07:43

Maybe they thought it was the one that could be best improved upon or which showed the greatest potential.

Do we know what Sophie's dancing again?

ppeatfruit · 18/12/2013 09:07

Silly me Xmas Blush thanks sooty can you tell I'm not au fait with the yoof culture? but Harry was as Digerd and Matt Lucas said "GORGEOUS" !!!

I was Xmas Hmm about Louis till that last dance agree Flavia was fabulous too.

I noticed that too Doesn'tLeftover But the judges have actually said that and she must've been tweeted too (if she's on twitter).

JaneEyreTheRedNosedReindeer · 18/12/2013 18:31

Sophie and Brendan on tonight's ITT, so we will find out what they're dancing in the final!

JaneEyreTheRedNosedReindeer · 18/12/2013 18:45

Their show dance is to Whitney's 'I want to dance with somebody' (hopefully minus Bacofoil...Xmas Wink).

Brendan wanted to take the audience 'on a bit of a journey' with their American Smooth Xmas Grin

The judges' choice is their Viennese Waltz from Musicals' Night to 'These are a few of my favourite things.'

If they get through to the next stage they'll do their Charleston again.

Good luck, Sophie & Brendan!

digerd · 18/12/2013 18:51

Just seen S&B and the judges choice is their Viennese Waltz, their own choice The Charleston. They have to "get through" the early stage to dance the charleston, so assume they all do the judges choice dance, and then 1 is voted off.

AndiMac · 18/12/2013 19:02

Abbey's showdance is to Sweet Child o'Mine by Guns&Roses. This will definitely not do her any favours.

Whereas Susanne is dancing to Your Song by Elton John via Moulin Rouge.

First time I've ever felt the show might be rigged.

digerd · 18/12/2013 19:05

Ian said the judges will be looking for more hip movement from Natalie, longer neck and better head placement for Sophie and faster footwork from Susanna. Abbey still on her show dance so no video of her judges' choice.

AndiMac · 18/12/2013 19:33

The judges' choice for Abbey is her waltz. I looked it up on Ultimate Strictly, which I think someone further up linked to before.

CeliaFate · 18/12/2013 19:54

Kevin and Susanna's show dance is to Your Song. What dance would fit that music?

wetaugust · 18/12/2013 20:21

Something rhumba -ish I would think, probably with lots of posing and balancing in holds. Sounds grim.

So does SweetCOM for a Showdance. Too frantic.

I actually really liked Louis' showdance last year and think he was a worthy winner (although DVT was execllent too)

CeliaFate · 18/12/2013 20:41

Yes, I feared a rhumba-ish performance. I hope it's a waltz type dance, come to think of it we haven't seen Susanna do a Viennese or a Rhumba have we? Her dances aren't very memorable.

wetaugust · 18/12/2013 20:47

The music has been very 'wrong' on a lot of occasions this series. It's either been very unfitting for the dance or something really obscure that I've never heard of or a rehash of the same songs that we've had in previous series.

Kind of spoils it for me.

OodKingWenceslas · 18/12/2013 20:54

Totally agree on the music.

FushandChups · 18/12/2013 21:13

Do you know - I thought we were still at the semi stage.. wow, I am uninterested this year (although will watch of course!)

There's a first time for everything Sad

JaneEyreTheRedNosedReindeer · 18/12/2013 21:15

Haha Fush - you've been Doing the Time Warp......

ScatterGotStuckUpTheChimney · 18/12/2013 21:25

Susannah and Kevin have missed the rumba but did do the VW. There was an autumn tree at the back. It was to that one "you fill up my senses", it might have been during love week?

OP posts:
OodKingWenceslas · 18/12/2013 21:26

Was there a love week? I thought I was paying attention

ScatterGotStuckUpTheChimney · 18/12/2013 21:33

Yes it was early on, on James and Ola's anniversary. I think it might have been the week Ben did quite a good rumba?

OP posts:
ScatterGotStuckUpTheChimney · 18/12/2013 21:37

Yep, it was week 3, here.

OP posts:
OodKingWenceslas · 18/12/2013 21:38

Ah yes I remember it now

Christmastimemoonbluesandwine · 18/12/2013 22:44

I thought it sounded like they got to choose the music/dance for the showdance, and Aljaz went for the tango/paso as they're doing two ballroom. Agree that it doesn't sound like a great choice... But then again I didn't think sweet Caroline would make a good Anerican smooth and it worked out ok.

Think Natalie and Artem's showdance sounds like it could be good and keep them in to do their third dance.

ppeatfruit · 19/12/2013 08:24

Who, along with Zoe, cried at the wedding dancers last night Xmas Blush? It was sooo sweet and beautifully danced; IMO Natalie (the pro) was a very good choreographer also modest.

i don't reckon it's rigged they choose their own music for the final dances.I DO agree about the music in general wetaugust.

birdbrain21 · 19/12/2013 09:00

Ian said last night when showing the training footage that kevin and susannah's showdance was waltz based
