Following on from the last thread.

I'm looking forward to seeing two dances from everybody. The music choices don't look bad either relatively speaking.

Bizarrely there's only one couple (Patrick and Anya) who have two of the usual ten dances, the others all have AT/AS/salsa. Natalie and Artem don't have a ten dance at all.

spot on BaaHumbug. Abbey, Sophie and Susanna are all loving it and it shows. Even Brendan is enjoying himself this year!

Horsemad · 16/12/2013 22:09

So true BaaHumbug - Natalie & Artem's dances are just so perfunctory & businesslike.

ThistletoeAndWine · 16/12/2013 23:05

Artem likes to flaunt the rules in regards to whTs expected of a dance

ppeatfruit · 17/12/2013 07:56

I agree Bahhumbug I don't reckon she'll win because it's obvious that the public don't vote for her.

Animation · 17/12/2013 10:09

Good thinking BaaHumbug!

"Joy" is the the missing factor. If she would throw her head back with joyous abandon things would be different. Xmas Smile

Sneezecakesmum · 17/12/2013 10:14

I wonder if Natalie is less popular because she played an abusive woman in corrie? I've never seen corrie so don't shoot me if I'm wrong! Grin

I don't think its a fair contest if she had dance training until 19.

Susanna is lovely but not a patch on Abby.

ExitPursuedByAChristmasGrinch · 17/12/2013 11:05

I thought that too Sneeze. She was loathed as her Corrie character and I have never seen her in anything else so find it hard to disassociate her from the character she played.

digerd · 17/12/2013 11:11

On ITT last night, the pro's favourite dance was Natalie and Artem in their viennese Waltz. It was beautiful but more like ballet than ballroom.

Ballet is basic training for stage school dance but ballroom is not taught.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 17/12/2013 11:13

I've never seen Corrie nor seen/heard about Natalie before and I still haven't warmed to her dances.

As someone said earlier, there's no joy. Even Sophie seems to be visibly enjoying it more than Natalie.

Impomea · 17/12/2013 11:33

I agree too Sneeze .I think people look at her and see her Corrie character.Perhaps if she was all girly and giggles they would warm to the real Natalie. It's not her fault if she is more reserved

Susannah is lucky ,if she wasn't with the popular Kev from Grimsby she would have been out by now.

AndiMac · 17/12/2013 12:38

I think Susanne is popular in her own right. She is exactly the demographic of the show isn't she? Early 40s, mother, etc etc. Rufus Hound pointed it out a few weeks ago and said that's why she'll win. And I think he's probably right.

EvilRingahBitch · 17/12/2013 13:40

Monkseal and his commenters are blaming MNers for Susanna's inevitable triumph, because she's our demographic, but I don't agree, I think the mood of the threads is much more pro-Sophie, with a surprisingly large number being won round to Abbey, some hard-core "bugger this journey bollox, it's all about purity of Daaance" Natalie fans and Susanna a poor fourth. Maybe it's all the Nethuns voting for Susanna?

And I wonder if there will be a big "anyone but Smugsanna!" alliance once (presumably) Natalie has been eliminated. According to the Daily Star's unproven but plausible leak, she's a long way ahead, but could still be stopped by a tactical Abbey/Sophie vote.

poorbuthappy · 17/12/2013 13:46

In our family (ie not just our house but extended family too) Susannah is known as "something for the dads" so I think that may be her demographic rather than us lot!
Ashley was more my demographic tbh...Xmas Grin

OodKingWenceslas · 17/12/2013 13:48

I think that a lot are split between Abbey and Sophie. If one goes early on Saturday the other might pick the votes up?

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 17/12/2013 14:06

I am Team Sophie not just because I remember her being born when Janet was on Blue Peter but I think Abby is better. She is just so full of life and enjoyment and dances very well indeed even though Alijaz looks like a stoat or possibly a weasel

ppeatfruit · 17/12/2013 15:22

Sorry folks but all that about Sus being the right demographic is a load of old bollox IMVHO Xmas Grin!! I mean LOUIS won last year didn't he? and that cute one from One Direction the year before.

I'm torn between Abbie and Sophie and I reckon it's down to who dances best next week!

Seff · 17/12/2013 16:24

I think Louis won last year because he was the most improved. And in those last few weeks he really let go and just enjoyed it. I don't think the voters want to see someone win who has been better than the rest the whole way through (Denise Van Outen last year, and Kimberly to a lesser extent) Or maybe people just felt sorry that he missed out on the gold medal??

I don't think Natalie will win though, for that reason. She's been the 'best' since week 1. In terms of most improved, I think Abbey may win.

theliverpoolone · 17/12/2013 18:31

Thats interesting you say that, Seff , as in week 1 Abbey was top of the leaderboard, iirc. Personally I don't find Natalie smug, I get more irritated by the ones who try too hard to look anxious when its obvious they're going to go through.

JaneEyreTheRedNosedReindeer · 17/12/2013 18:50

Ms Karen Hardy should be on the judging panel IMHO.

ExitPursuedByAChristmasGrinch · 17/12/2013 19:10

Abby is very good, but I do love Sophie.

CeliaFate · 17/12/2013 19:51

I think Sophie dances well and her dances have more of an impact emotionally, even though they are technically not as good.
When you look at her paso again, she's not strong, her frame and shaping are wobbly and erratic. But the emotional impact of the dance got the crowd on their feet.
The only time I've felt that way about Natalie and Artem was their rhumba. Her dancing is impressive but leaves me cold. Same for Abbey. Susanna has reached her peak now and should go next.

ilovesooty · 17/12/2013 21:31

ppeat Harry was in McFly.

I still think Louis won last year because the vote was shamelessly manipulated by the judges so that the J word came into play. And Flavia's popularity didn't do him any harm either.

You can get as much as 12/1 against on Natalie now, and Susanna is odds on.

fivegolddeblooms · 17/12/2013 22:21

Sorry, ilovesooty, what's the 'j word'? Confused

ScatterGotStuckUpTheChimney · 17/12/2013 22:44

You know, the one we all groan when we hear. Usually comes shortly before 'emotional rollercoaster'.

Most bookies have Susanna as favourite, then Abbey, then Sophie then Natalie.

digerd · 18/12/2013 06:56

Ooh Harry- he was sooo cute and yummy.

Karen said the same as I did about Natalie- that she is very balletic, precise and controlled in her movements.
