This pro dance is fun Smile

She's under his thumb!!

Iwaswatchingthat · 26/11/2013 11:44

Yes I thought that. No other partners have been so fussy!!

Horsemad · 26/11/2013 11:48

I wouldn't give a toss whether my DH 'approved' of my dances or not! Grin

Iwaswatchingthat · 26/11/2013 11:50

Me either. Tbh though he would probably prefer a filthy rumba to a romantic one!! Grin

Horsemad · 26/11/2013 11:59

Mine too! Grin Most men would, I imagine. I think my fave rumba on SCD was Vincent & Rachel Stevens.

Iwaswatchingthat · 26/11/2013 12:04

Yes I have lost track of who was in it when now. I was asking my DH today who was in the first series and neither of us could remember.

Horsemad · 26/11/2013 12:07

Was it the first series that Natasha Kaplinsky won? They all merge into one another, don't they?!

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 26/11/2013 12:09

Colin Jackson did a BEAUTIFUL rumba. I remember Arlene saying it was 'smooth as silk' and she was right! I can't find it online though, so if anyone can, it would be great to watch it again...

Iwaswatchingthat · 26/11/2013 12:09

Great knowledge horsemad

Horsemad · 26/11/2013 12:11

Thanks Iwas - didn't always watch the early ones as life was a bit frantic then!

Iwaswatchingthat · 26/11/2013 12:12

Yes I remember being pregnant watching them all slinking about thinking I am never going to have a waist again!!! Tbh though it was easier to watch then without two dds swirling around in front of the telly. Not as fun though!

Horsemad · 26/11/2013 12:16

Only female in the house (apart from DCat) so it's just me unless the menfolk decide to watch & critique Hmm

Prefer to watch without their 'helpful' commentary tbh!

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2013 13:32

Seriously though it must be difficult to be the partner of a celeb who's really 'into' Grin his or her dancing partner or vice versa but it must be a professional problem. IIRC there was a list on here of the couples who had literally got off together in the last series Shock

DuckToWater · 26/11/2013 13:51

For the first few years of SCD, the rumba seemed to be the kiss of death for most celebrities. Notably if Brenda(n) was the pro partner. Then more recently there have been a few good ones. Sophie's was ok, not cringingly awful like some, but nowhere near enough hip movement.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 26/11/2013 14:42

Monkseal is hilarious as ever...did you all notice the Mumsnet reference in his blog this week? Grin

Animation · 26/11/2013 15:04

Franke - yes the Foxtrot has it difficulties, but I felt Ben was doing harder more exuberant techniques with kicks and difficult lifts that I don't think Mark could even have attempted.

Animation · 26/11/2013 15:08

I also thought it strange Sophie saying her husband approved of the rumba. That may be where she's constrained then??

FushandChups · 26/11/2013 15:40

I've seen all the series apart from No2 (which Jill Halfpenny won) so sadly I know too much. The first ever person to ever be voted off - so first out, season 1 - killed himself. He was an impressionist although can't remember his name (and don't think it was because of Strictly!)

Anyway - my favourite Rumba was Cherie & James (I do think James is the best rumba choreographer - they are always gorgeous!)

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2013 15:45

Have you got the Monkseal link DuPain ? pretty please Grin

DuPainDuVinDuFromage · 26/11/2013 16:06

Here you go! Enjoy!

JaneEyresHeir · 26/11/2013 16:32

Grin DuPain, Monkseal is on top form this week: the MN reference made me laugh, as did Brenda's progress from last week's 'Snood of Despair' to the ''V-Neck of Despond'!
His comments on Fiona's article which he linked to in the Telegraph are very funny.

DuckToWater · 26/11/2013 17:44

I preferred it when they all did the same dance at once (or one of two dances, was it?), so you could compare better. It's not fair when someone has a ^^ dance like the Charleston while others have a Viennese Waltz or Foxtrot, which are harder to master and put on a real performance with.

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2013 17:57

Thanks so much DuPain It's sooo funny I love it and he's right too Grin

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 26/11/2013 18:11

Duck, I know, it doesn't make any sense to have them all doing different dances! I have contacted the Beeb about it more than once. Sad but true. They probably have me on a 'nutters' list.

DuckToWater · 26/11/2013 18:13

They probably say it's more "entertaining"...it isn't though.
