Last thread here.

This pro dance is fun Smile

Thought it unfair that Ben went as his dance was technically much harder than Mark's dance. I know he lost his timing in a couple of places but Mark's hands are still like spatulas!

awaynboilyurheid · 25/11/2013 10:02

checking in late but Ben on his first dance did well but kind of gave up on the dance off which was a shame and Ziggy yes I noticed christina wanted him to twirl her a bit more but he had had enough ! poor Christina tho, hope one year they give her a decent partner you can tell all the ones the producers don't want to ever win! Brendan and Sophie need to listen yes great dance but she looked bored through it all and it does spoil it acting lessons needed

AndiMac · 25/11/2013 10:24

Christina had Jason Donovan who made it to the semi-final! He was an excellent dancer and actor as creepy and dull as he occasionally came across.

AndiMac · 25/11/2013 10:25

Kristina I mean of course.

MsInterpret · 25/11/2013 10:37

Monkseal summaries The full reviews are usually up on Tue or Wed Grin

EmeraldJeanie · 25/11/2013 10:57

I thought Mark should have gone, as did he by the looks of it.
He had a much simpler dance than Ben's and even with Ben's mistakes he should have stayed.
The judges have their favourites and Mark is one of them.

ppeatfruit · 25/11/2013 12:32

Yes Emerald Mark looked completely gutted I think he wanted to go too!

Animation · 25/11/2013 13:25

Thought I lip read Christina say to Ben 'I'm sorry' at the end there, just prior to him waving everyone over. My interpretation was that she may have asked him to change some technique in the dance off - and that it might have put him off, and then he lost his timing.

Horsemad · 25/11/2013 15:58

Thanks AndiMac Smile

Am having nice bath, clean pjs and glass of wine in bed tonight whilst I watch Sat/Sun progs Grin Can't wait!

MrsBramleyApple · 25/11/2013 18:46

Now watching Ben on IT2 I admire him so much as well as fancying the pants off him! Kristina is crying............

wetaugust · 25/11/2013 19:07

And for the 2nd week in a row I feel I must have been watching a different programme to the judges.

Ben actually danced and did some difficult lifts. Mark strolled through his 'dance'. But Mark won (again) Confused.

This kind of nonsense could start putting fans like me off this programme.

No wonder I fell asleep just before the end of Saturday's show.

And yes, it would be nice if the singers could extend their reetoire. I am sick of hearing the same old songs series after series.

In fact, why do I bother watching?

MintyChops · 25/11/2013 19:15

Love how Monkseal calls Brendan "Brenda", it makes his hissy fits even funnier; although with my total lack of actual dance knowledge, and based purely on my years of watching Strictly, I really liked their rumba and I thought SEB did it well so I suppose he has right to be cross.

digerd · 25/11/2013 19:38

I missed ITT and seeing Ben for the last timeSad. Just saw the end with Craig who has reverted to being Dr Jekyl againHmm. What was the matter with him last Saturday?
Perhaps it was Kristina who went wrong, I don't know as noticed only Ben out of synch with her. I really feel down that Ben is not in it anymore, but don't expect he would have been any good with the Broadway theme. < was hoping to be wowed, though>.

FrankelInFoal · 25/11/2013 20:04

Animation I have to disagree with your comments about Ben's dance being more difficult. There is no technique written for Charleston, it's a "make it up as you go along" kind of dance. Yes there are certain elements that you expect to see, but it is nothing compared to the Ballroom technique which calls for accurate footwork (heel leads, ball flat, etc), specific room alignments, as well as mastering swing and sway and the ballroom hold.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 25/11/2013 20:10

And foxtrot technique is especially horrible to get right.

I made a point of reading the credits after Saturday's SCD and just the number of producers it's got without all the lighting, staging directors etc etc etc....... might be one of the reasons why it sometimes seems such a dog's dinner Grin

AndiMac · 26/11/2013 09:26

Monkseal's review of Saturday night is up.

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 26/11/2013 09:39

I don't mind that Ben's gone. He didn't have much more to offer and his Charleston wasn't great – leaden-footed and not great swivel.

Sophie's rumba: I agree with Brenda that a rumba doesn't need to be raunchy; it can be emotional, intimate, loving... but she did not express any of those things in her dance. I've said it before, but I think she's a cold fish, or her dance personality certainly is. Brenda needs to shut up and stop huffing as well. It's not impressive or attractive.

Mark OK but I agree his injuries must be bothering him and he probably secretly wants to go (although I do think he loves dancing with Iveta).

Natalie: agree with Craig, it lacked attack and her head position wasn't exaggerated/stylised enough.

Suzanna: not her dance but she gave it loads with her performance and personality and I still love her.

Ashley: dull, overpraised, his leaning head is getting on my nerves.

Abbey not bad: could have been stronger but some lovely paso lines.

Can't even remember anyone else Grin. It was all very flat and uninspired after the high of Blackpool. This week will be better again!

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2013 11:24

TheHeadless Funny you saying about Mark liking dancing with Iveta; when we saw his wife's face watching she didn't look she liked it!!Shock IMO she had a very 'forced' tight smile!!

SoupDragon · 26/11/2013 11:27

I think it's a shame Ben went this week purely because I think Mark wanted to go. I got the impression that both knew they were on borrowed time but I think Ben is physically up for another week whereas Mark isn't.

SoupDragon · 26/11/2013 11:30

I don't think Sophie is a cold fish - I think she's a very private person and is struggling with the emotional side of this. It's interesting when most struggle with the technical side.

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 26/11/2013 11:35

ppeat, now you mention it she did, didn't she? Must be hard watching your significant other getting up close and personal with a beautiful professional, I suppose. OR maybe she was just worried because of his painful knees, or upset that he'd had to go through ANOTHER dance-off?

Dragon, I did say it might just be Sophie's dance personality that is cold-fish-like. She cannot seem to express anything through her dancing, whether that be the 'sexy' dances, romantic ones, fun ones... I'm heartily tired of watching her, tbh. It's not at all interesting.

ppeatfruit · 26/11/2013 11:36

I totally agree about Sophie SoupDragon I loved her rumba actually.

Iwaswatchingthat · 26/11/2013 11:36

I love Mark. Such a lovely, genuine man.

Iwaswatchingthat · 26/11/2013 11:37

Sophie's talking about her husband approving of her rumba was a bit strange.
