Last thread here.

This pro dance is fun Smile

Mark will go next week if he gets a latin number.

I don't like this "we are judging on tonight's dance off only" crap. It's unfair - it should be on who is the best dancer and although Ben is clumsy and awkward he is definitely better than Mark overall.

I too think Mark is ready to go - it's all getting too much for him, and he would never manage two dances.

SoupDragon · 24/11/2013 20:05

Didn't Darcey bring previous weeks into her decision last week? Tis time she was very clear it was based on tonight's dance only.

SauvignonBlanche · 24/11/2013 20:05

I only watched it for Ben! Sad

LeBearPolar · 24/11/2013 20:05

Ben did fall apart there - he seemed to forget the steps.

Ziggyzoom · 24/11/2013 20:07

At the end I got the impression that Christina was desperately trying to encourage Ben to swirl her around like a princess and he was having none of it and ushered the others in. I wonder if she was coming on a bit too strong and he opted out!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/11/2013 20:07

Not sure about Ben's energy, I thought he looked ready for a sit-down halfway through Grin

DaveBussell · 24/11/2013 20:07

Yes, I thought Mark wanted to go, think he's had enough physically whereas Ben looked like he was still enjoying it overall. He made mistakes but it really wasn't a bad charleston at all.

SauvignonBlanche · 24/11/2013 20:10

Mark looked as if coming up and own the stairs was too much for him!

OrlaNuttin · 24/11/2013 20:13

Mark was definitely better in the dance off (and in general imo) but poor fella looks like his knees are killing him, and he would have been happy to go.
Glad Ben's gone. He seems like a properly nice man but I was sick of being told that I ought to find him attractive when tbh I wouldn't!
Just wonder how much more Ben would have improved if he'd had Lilia, or Natalie as a teacher.

digerd · 24/11/2013 20:14

That was compared to Mark's lack of energy. His dance last week was so energetic, perhaps he overdid it.
If he is OK, Mark should be entertaining in the broadway dance theme next week, whereas Ben wouldn't have been.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/11/2013 20:21

I see what you mean. Yes, I agree, Mark's a better bet for a musicals week.

AmIthatTinselly · 24/11/2013 20:26

HRH You could try the very handsome Ashley. Or the super cute Kevin?

nennypops · 24/11/2013 20:31

Ben's mistakes were very obvious, so that was the right decision. But I was quite concerned about how Mark was clearly struggling going up the stairs after his first dance. Absolute credit to him for just getting on with things despite really quite bad knee injuries - refreshing change after all the fuss about Natalie.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2013 21:06

Mark has looked bored for weeks - he was fun to begin with. Ben at least seemed to still be putting everything into it/

FushandChups · 24/11/2013 21:21

Of the two, and based purely on the dance off, the right decision was made. I liked both actually but Ben didn't really pull that off. I'm pleased Mark is still in but agree with everyone else that he looks ready to go. However, he gave it his all which he wouldn't have done if he didn't want to stay so good on him! Also thought him dedicating his dance to his wife was really sweet - so go Team Mark Smile

ppeatfruit · 24/11/2013 21:29

Well as today's show was based on the Great British Bake Off they should've removed both of them (they looked like they'd both had enough TBH Grin) Thanks for the new thread Polka Grin

I LOVE musicals; great West Side Story song tonight (not sure about it being sung by all males though)!!

MsInterpret · 24/11/2013 21:59

Checking in... Agree tonight was a bit meh. But not bothered about Ben going. Sorry Ben-lovers, he just doesn't do it for me - all the more for you then! He seems so BOring and I find his face really bland and actually all the over-egging how HOT he was on the show made me turn off even more.

Really liked Abby and Aljaz's paso (disclaimer: I know nothing about dancing!) I so want Sophie to do well but yes, she is just so awkward. It's her face isn't it? The looking down and uncertain face mixed with smile in the rumba - compared with Abby's powerful paso character for example...COME ON Sophie - get angry about the judges comments and come back next week and SHOW THEM! Unfortunately, I suspect that the comments will serve only to increase her nerves and she'll be worse than ever.

Off to see what Monkseal thought.

Horsemad · 24/11/2013 22:50

Ha! Here you are! Haven't watched any Strictly all weekend & stayed away from the thread to avoid seeing who'd gone - then saw the result on my news feed Smile So came to see what you all thought. Grin

I'm going to watch both progs tomorrow evening with a big glass of wine. Smile

TheSontaranPussycat · 25/11/2013 00:12

Mark should have had knee braces from the start of the competition - his injuries sounded awful on ITT. I thought he danced better than Ben "tonight", and tbh I am quite pleased to see Ben go.

Sophie's rhumba seemed to fit with the actual song - in which the singer wistfully wonders "will you still love me tomorrow" and still goes for the shagging soulful sex. It would've been odd doing a dirty rhumba to that particular song.

digerd · 25/11/2013 07:21

Brendan was annoyed with the judges and argued for the first time this series. They loved Sophie's Charleston although that is usually full of whacky faces and she danced it in a cool haughty manner which suited her.
I liked her rumba style and think the judges were inconsistent and unfair.

Craig has been Mr Jekyll but turned into Mr Hyde last Saturday Hmm

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister · 25/11/2013 07:29

Can someone link to Monkseal when its up please.

Horsemad · 25/11/2013 07:56

What has caused Mark's knee problems? Is it stress on the joints from the dancing?

Snowstorm · 25/11/2013 07:56

Marking my place.

AndiMac · 25/11/2013 08:13

Horsemad, he said he blew the cartilage in them the 2nd week of rehearsals. Could happen to anyone, but obviously easier to happen with his kind of weight on top of them.
