Don't think it's 2 dances just yet - but next week they will do a 'swingathon'.

digerd interesting that you didn't rate Abbey. Who was your favourite tonight?

The music was loads better this week but the camerawork was as bad as i've known it - so much of the dancing is missed because they are filming the extras or the pro dancer instead of the celeb or the top half only etc. In Abbey's dance they actually cut halfway through to a shot of the mirro-ball ffs!

Snowstorm · 30/11/2013 21:15

I don't usually pay too much attention when Patrick dances but I thought that their dance tonight was amazing.

Great show tonight but I miss Pasha ...Sad ...

Pan · 30/11/2013 21:16

Mary if it's 3 shows left then poss it's 2 dances week after next, then the final. When they have to do 12 dances whilst balancing Bruno on their noses whilst clapping like seals. Easy.Smile
Sophie is amazing for being so good with laddio and having had three children in recent years (each with pre-eclampsia). She has 'poise'. And a fascinating jaw line.

DameEdnasBridesmaid · 30/11/2013 21:18

The music was better but really, musicals? How could they fail? Although Dream Girls was dire and frankly they could've chosen any number of better Lion King songs.

Tunes have been poor this season. Fact.

birdbrain21 · 30/11/2013 21:21

next week is one dance as normal and then the swingathon where they are all on the floor at the same time and one by one the judges tell them to leave.

I really enjoyed tonight but don't understand the judges sometimes.
I think we should be able to vote for who want in the bottom two instead of who we want to save...

Hope lots of people voted for mark this week. I totally agree that he's not the best anymore but he's such a lovely guy and tries so hard and Iveta is brilliant I think they deserve a 'week off' not in the dance off before they actually go out

Weknowwhoyouare · 30/11/2013 21:22

I like swingathon week. Bit better to compare them.

IShallWearMidnight · 30/11/2013 21:24

[www.monkseal.wordpress.com Monseal's blog]] for whoever was asking further down, enjoy!

birdbrain21 · 30/11/2013 21:25

I mean the judges tell them to leave the dance floor!

I think my faves for the final are suzzanah, sophie, abbey and ashley and don't really care who wins out of those four. Natalie is too smug for me, Mark is lovely but not a good enough dancer, Patrick is a bit meh his charleston tonight was good but didn't find myself loving it and I love charlsetons even natalies...

IShallWearMidnight · 30/11/2013 21:25

Monkseals blog sorry, wine/phone/fat fingers combo going on here Wink

RedPencils · 30/11/2013 21:26

I really loved tonight's show. Think that's the right amount of slebs for me, I drift off when there's too many of them.

Abbey and Sophie were my favourites. Best dance for both of them.
Patrick was good and I really like Anya.
Natalie was ok, I think that the combination of downbeat song and Artem's choreography let her down. Len doesn't like the faffing about, he always pulls him up on it.

Thenightsky - Monkseal is a Strictly blogger. He does an affectionate piss take every week. Google Mighty Monkseal when you've got a couple of hours to spare. Vv funny.

MsInterpret · 30/11/2013 21:34

Ooh,was watching on catch up and then just missed the voting cut off! Dammit.

I would have given mine to Sophie & Brendan. Told her to bring it this week and she did, well done girl! And maybe one to Abbey & Aljaz. For Aljaz's bottom.

Liked Patrick's dance but just can't get excited about him and he doesn't seem that bothered - when Tess asked 'Are you happy...?' or whatever he just tightly said, 'oh yes, extremely happy' in a tense way I thought. I mean, we all know Tess' comments are fairly inane but come on Patrick! Get in the SWING of Strictly and camp it up a bit! (is Patrick gay btw?)

Umm, Susanna ok, Mark fun but obv gotta leave, Ashley, yawwwn.

Nearly forgot Natalie! I was vair pleased with myself that I could tell it was a foxtrot-based American smooth, non-dancer that I am. And it was pretty and lovely but bit boring I thought. Like a dullish showdance.

digerd · 01/12/2013 08:28

The music was more enjoyable but nobody wowed me. I enjoyed watching Mark the most, oddly enough. Expect he will be in the bottom 2 again but who will join him this time?

RosinaCopper · 01/12/2013 10:15

I know that Brucie is loved and loathed in equal measures, but I did laugh out loud at his off the cuff quip after the first dance - he's so much better when he's not reading the autocue.

If anyone missed it, Bruce handed Patrick his glass of water and asked him if he'd like a sip after his energetic charleston, and then as Patrick raised it to his lips, said, 'It's vodka!' which made Patrick splutter and even DH laughed (and he hates Brucie)

With the dances:

Watched the whole of Patrick, Sophie, Suzanna and Abbey. Fast forwarded bits of Natalie, Ashley and Mark.

I like Abbey (didn't think I would and it was the same with Penny Lancaster a few years back) Sophie and Suzanna, and think Suzanna has a real chance of winning.

Natalie is too good and I can't warm to her at all.

Love Mark and Iveta's partnership, but I think he's gone as far as he can in the competition, especially given his knee issues.

But meh about Patrick and Ashley.

FushandChups · 01/12/2013 10:53

I voted for Mark (twice Blush)

HRHwheezing · 01/12/2013 11:51

Just watched back strictly. I don't get Abbie's high score.

Aljaz was amazing though. Perhaps too much of watching him.

birdbrain21 · 01/12/2013 12:17

fush so did I!! I don't think he's good enough to get to the final but I think he deserves a week off from the dance off before he goes out...

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2013 13:10

I'm fed up, we had friends for dinner last night so we watched just after the group dance Sad and up to the efffing shriek song of Dream Girls and no more (I don't have a recorder or any of the up to date teccie stuff so I'll have to wait for Monkseal's precis Grin)

WRF to Tess's bosom (shallow alert !!) She's got what my mum would call an "hour glass" figure "like the queen" so her boobs are low slung and IMO she doesn't choose the right dresses or bras to flatter her.

DaveBussell · 01/12/2013 13:10

If Mark isn't in the dance off (and that tearfulness might just have saved him) then it's going to be interesting tonight. Abbey and Patrick have been in before so might be vulnerable even though they are very popular with the judges. I would hate to see that happen though, I thought they were both great.

If I could choose I would put in Susanna and Ashley and I wouldn't mind who went.

Something has got to be done about the camerawork for the dancing, who can I complain to??!

DaveBussell · 01/12/2013 13:18

Agree ppeatfruit about Tess' dress - it was actually a very pretty dress but all the detailing on the bodice really highlighted the boob issue. Does she get much choice re her wardrobe? Even if she doesn't then you would have thought the right amount of support would be a basic thing for any dresser to ensure.

There's always been comments, including the Mighty Monkseal, re way Tess is often dressed as if someone in wardrobe hates her!

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2013 13:29

DaveBussell dd2 has done styling and dressing on TV and the stars are given a 'choice' of a number of dresses that the stylists buy for them (depending on how big the budget is of course).

ppeatfruit · 01/12/2013 13:31

Agree about the camerwork too and the staging is a bit Hmm.

DaveBussell · 01/12/2013 13:44

Oh that's interesting ppeat, so she would have chosen the dress herself? Would the dresser be expected to point out the need for 'support' in this dress?

DaveBussell · 01/12/2013 13:56

I suppose the staging is sort of in the classic style for this type of show - variety theatre type thing. I don't mind it too much, it seems to suit the show.

The camerawork thing is really grating on me though. I don't expect them to focus on the feet all the time, I realise that they have to capture the atmosphere of the dance as a whole but to actually cut away as they did in the middle of Abbey's dance to home in on the mirror-ball and nothing else seemed really ridiculous. It means that we don't see half of what the judges do so sometimes makes their views on the dance hard to understand.

The one dance they did seem to film properly was Susanna's which helped to make it clear to me that she really couldn't cope with it.
