Perhaps SCD should have 'classes' e.g." best accomplished celeb dancer" then "best wooden celeb dancer"and "best agile but untrained celeb dancer" Grin Grin

MelanieCheeks · 06/11/2013 14:31

I'm going to vote for Susanna this week. She revealed on BBC Breakfast today that Charlie Stayt had said to her "42? I thought you were older than that!" and then is surprised that she wont Let That Go. Plus the weather forecaster kept calling her Louise.

So the poor girl needs a vote of confidence.

There, that's the rationale that the typical phone voter uses. And that's why the public vote is so unpredictable.

coffeeinbed · 06/11/2013 15:33

And can we have a "celeb the judge would like to take home" category.
And "dancer the judge would like to take home "
And "waggiest tail" please!

ppeatfruit · 06/11/2013 16:13

Yes melanie I 'll vote for Susanna is she trained d'you think?

coffeeinbed Grin how about best SCD thread online? Grin

digerd · 06/11/2013 18:10

I can't see any signs that Susanna has been trained but she obviously loves it.
Most girls at stage school have dance training, but not many will be as talented as Natalie.

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock · 06/11/2013 19:06

I wouldn't think Susanna had had any training either. Enthusiasm, a good teacher and hard work, I reckon that's her 'secret'!

Frankel, is it up to Strictly to represent a competition syllabus though, or mirror what people going to dance classes learn? I think they show off plenty of basic steps, in all the dances, but also surely people primarily want to see great and interesting dancing and neither know nor care if it's that true to what happens in dance classes?

digerd · 06/11/2013 19:36

I know that in ballroom there are heel leads which I never notice or we can see in those long dresses. I am sure Darcy knows nothing about that as in ballet it is always toes leading. Some modern, contemporary dance will have heel leads, but apart from that, the only dance I can think of is the very exciting Russian Cossack Dancing.
Looking forward to seeing Sophie and Brendan dance the Argentine Tango this Saturday.

Minimammoth · 06/11/2013 19:43

I don't think Sophie will summon the passion or pretence thereof. I am warming to Susanna.

FrankelInFoal · 06/11/2013 19:49

Headless, the point about using a syllabus is that it makes things a level playing field, if only for a few weeks. If there are only a set number of figures they can dance then everyone can be judged equally, rather than throwing in the odd impressive move to make everyone go "Wow!" and bump up the judges marks.

digerd · 06/11/2013 19:56

I warmed to Susanna right from the beginning, but am still waiting to see her improve.

CeliaFate · 06/11/2013 20:44

It's difficult to say who's improved. They've all pretty much stayed at their starting point I think. Perhaps Patrick and Fiona have improved the most. Sophie's gone backwards, Susannah, Abbey and Natalie were good from the start but I haven't seen huge progress.

MelanieCheeks · 06/11/2013 23:14

Hands up- who here actually does vote. And who do you vote for, and why, does it change from one week to the next?

Listmaker · 07/11/2013 07:15

In previous years we only voted in the last week or two (tight arse!) But now I can vote for free online I am and as Matilda says you can have five votes. Trouble is you have to watch more or less live as the voting window is very short. This means limited ability to fast forward Bruce. Still it's his week off next week. Hooray Grin.

CloudOfStarlings · 07/11/2013 07:32

Yes I never watch live as I wait til the dc are in bed.. I don't normally start voting until about this point in the competition so if I feel strongly about someone I'll get a friend to let me know when voting opens so I can get my vote in.
Usually I have 1 or 2 firm favourites I'll vote for but also vote for people I really think deserve to stay if for example they've obviously worked really hard, or improved loads.
I always vote in the semis & final.

digerd · 07/11/2013 08:35

NomDO
Just noticed your question. Lhasa Apso, similar to a Shitzu but quieter and more wary of strangers. < although all have their own unique personality>. They do not chase a ball and are independent so not easy to train. Also stubborn, but non-hyper and non-aggressive. Graceful smooth gliding and elegant, poised movers .Grin

digerd · 07/11/2013 08:45

Patrick has improved the most, and Ben has improved in his Latin < he really is a fine figure of a man but would look better in a tight stretchy shirt with an opening at the top imo>. Anybody noticed his tight rounded bum ? just wondering what his rugby thighs look like and should wear tight lycra trousers to show them off

thistlelicker · 07/11/2013 08:59

My Lhasa is wary of strangers but when he knows u is fine! He fetches a ball but once he is bored of it he will chew it!!! He doesn't chew as a rule but he is partial to a pair of socks

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2013 09:00

digerd Did you see Darcey doing all the dances 'from Hollywood' on 2 programmes which may have been on Sky arts? They were good and showed her dancing Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire style. She has also said that she brushes up the techniques of each dance before it is to be showcased.

I like Darcey a lot she tries to be constructive not mean. Grin

I have tried to vote but we're in fr. and sometimes the phones don't do what I'd like them to!

FrankelInFoal · 07/11/2013 10:28

See I'm not a big fan of Darcey, sometimes she comes out with technically incorrect comments. It's all well and good her reading up on the techniques and requirements for each dance, but she hadn't spent years studying/dancing them. That's why they should have got another ballroom/Latin expert (like Karen Hardy) to sit alongside Len and balance out the theatre-background stuff from Bruno and Craig.

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2013 10:38

Yes I like Karen H too maybe there should be 2 women on the panel why tf not?

Sparklingbrook · 07/11/2013 10:51

Len on This Morning now!!

Sparklingbrook · 07/11/2013 10:58

'It's got to be Dave' Shock

ppeatfruit · 07/11/2013 11:33

What I missed it Sparkling Dave to go or Dave to win???

Sparklingbrook · 07/11/2013 11:35

The question from Phil Schofield was-

'Who will go on Saturday?' and that was Len's instant reply.
