Feel sorry for that midwife trying to deal with the lady refusing medical intervention. Sad

Ive only just switched on. Whats going on?

Fifibluebell · 07/10/2013 21:56

That woman is being ridiculous and rude when they are trying to help her! She's making me angry

HatticusFinch · 07/10/2013 21:56

I was watching through my fingers. Very scary.

Mammabear31 · 07/10/2013 21:56

Haha I've just started a thread too. I cannot believe how stubborn and pig headed that woman is being. Thank god her baby is ok.

stargirl1701 · 07/10/2013 21:57

I think she was utterly terrified.

BooCanary · 07/10/2013 21:57

Thank god baby is OK. So stressful - felt so sorry for the midwife.

MikeLitoris · 07/10/2013 21:57

Im guessing her waters went early?

God knows how the midwives keep calm with women like that.

SoullessButSunny · 07/10/2013 21:58

I was so shocked at her attitude.

You can bet that she would be blaming the medical staff if something had gone wrong.

PossessedPollyPumpkin · 07/10/2013 21:59

Yes, I think she was terrified. She must have had a really awful experience first time round.
I am Envy at all the triplets. I have twins and have got a bit obsessed with multiples.

PossessedPollyPumpkin · 07/10/2013 21:59

It was really hard to watch though.

FlappyTheBat · 07/10/2013 22:00

I've just logged onto Mumsnet for the first time in over 3 years to see if there were any discussions about this episode. Whilst I realise that every mother has a choice, there comes a times when they have to understand that what they want might not always be the best for their baby. She was very lucky to have had a good outcome, sadly that isn't always the case. However I think this will just "prove" to her that she was "right"

EeTraceyluv · 07/10/2013 22:01

She was absolutely ridiculous. Still saying he would have been ok if they've left her to go full term! My first dd was IUGR and it was really scary.

HatticusFinch · 07/10/2013 22:01

She was incredibly lucky that it was a good outcome for her and her baby.

AnyFucker · 07/10/2013 22:02

That silly woman will be slagging off the midwife team, I should think. Fuck knows why.

Horsemad · 07/10/2013 22:02

Mike, baby wasn't growing & she'd had 2? failed inductions. Was on daily monitoring & gad waters broken but didn't dilate, hence CS.

I don't think she understood really. Dont think she tried to understand the midwife really, she seemed to react better to the consultant.

Would they have waited until she possibly collapsed or would they just knock her out and do a CS?

OP posts:
SusieSusieSheep · 07/10/2013 22:04

Astonishing. I want to lock her up for child abuse. So selfish.

cansu · 07/10/2013 22:05

I was very impressed with the staff and how they continued to try and persuade her to accept the c section. You could also really see how worried they were about her. I think the midwife was excellent, really calm but also assertive and clear with her about the possible outcome of refusing the section. I also think though that you could see this happening earlier when she discharged herself and was difficult to reach in the community. Maybe the community midwife should have been talking more to her in those weeks helping her to understand what would happen if induction failed or baby became distressed.

Horsemad · 07/10/2013 22:06

I was yelling at the tv, was horrible watching her disregard their advice.

OP posts:
Horsemad · 07/10/2013 22:07

Agree cansu, that midwife deserves a medal.

I just replied in your thread mammabear. She made it all about her. I had a shocker with ds but would have done the same again if it meant dd was safe. No question.

HatticusFinch · 07/10/2013 22:07

I think they would have needed consent.

I had to have a crash section under GA, and I still had to give consent. It was very scary.
