Accidentally filled up the last thread without realising.

Have the day off today so can sit and watch the tennis scores update.

They're not really. Fortunately I don't really have to do anything except get myself in the right place with a few presents. Then I just need to help out with peeling/chopping veg/washing up etc once I get there. That bit's sorted. Getting back is a bit more of a problem.

These lazy tennis players do need to get back to playing. It's just not good enough.

Just checking in to keep us ticking over! Anyone see Macenroe v Wilander earlier? Saw a bit of it in between visitors. Have bought tree today. Now all I need to do is get it in from car - hope it fits!

anyone interested have you tried the tennis tree?

we did one a few years ago, (inspired by tree they had up in the Wimbledon shop in the grounds):green tree ,green purple tinsel, white ribbon (as tinsel), green purple and silver baubles, and tennis balls interspersed in tree! (and they had little teddy bears in tree in the shop)so we put a couple of our bears underneath ( Beardych and Beardasco )

and some tennis raquet charm things as ornaments! saddo I know but everyone we invited round loved it!

and stupid me didn't take a photo! will have to do it again sometime!

I namechanged for another thread or two somewhere else (didn't want to out myself!) and had to type this one in again so obviously Ive spelled it differently! still me though!

I didn't like to mention the missing 'g' in the last one.

It's bad enough I keep confusing myself wondering who the hell the OP is and then remembering it was me under a name change.

Only a week to go till Brisbane starts and The Mighty Fed is back on court. I hope Sky is covering it.
Stefan Edberg joined Fed for a training week in Dubai. I am beyond excited at the thought they might work together during the year.
Djoker and Becker seems an odd pairing to me, but will be fascinating to watch. I feel a bit sorry for Marjan Vaider (sp?) who has been with Djok for so long.

Oh and following the "bear" theme above, I have a "Federbear" . My cleaner likes to move it to different places around the house, which never fails to make me smile!

makes me laugh when the 'great rivalry' was nadal/fed. then Nadal/Djoko. then Djoko/Murray and now its nadal/Djoko again! make up your mind.

And sorry rafa fans but theres been too much speculation about his all too speedy recovery and wins and the others players really vocal about favouritism (drugs and uncle T coaching) and drug tests.

Ooh hello, we're active again! I have heard from an insider source that the drug rumours about Nadal are not only, allegedly, true, but also well known to all in the industry . Becker/Djoko pair-up is interesting I think, didn't see it coming though. Did anyone hear about the fifteen year old junior player who died on ours a few day ago? Tragic, so completely heart breaking.

Anyway, sooo looking forward to Aussie Open. Feel like we have been tennis-less for ages.

and phew! thought I was going to get a pasting about Nadal!

A fifteen yr old Indonesian player, Prayoga Achmadi died on court on 19 December in a tournament in Indonesia. I'm not quite sure of what, but what a nightmare for his family, can you imagine? My eldest ds is a good sportsman. He's 20 now, but when he was 16 he was playing for London Irish when he started to get heart palpitations. We got him checked out straight away and his heart was apparently fine. But he lost all confidence from then on and now only plays sport for fun, not competitively. So scary. Thought and prayers to that young lad's family :(
