Sons of Anarchy Series 6 episode 1 - Straw

Well everyone, the new series aired on FX on Weds night and I managed to, ahem, stream it this afternoon on internet, tried putlocker, but ended up via another route. Why should we have to wait til the new year -!?!?

Anyway, if any of you do get the chance to watch, do. It is, as usual, crushing violent in places and has a particularly shocking climax - there are reviews and spoilers all over the internet so be careful what you read.

We do, (yes, this is a spoiler, but in a good way!) get to see, er, a lot more of Jax in this episode, giving us some indication of what to expect in ' 50 shades of grey' - why is there so much criticism of him, have any of the critics actually seen him?

OOOh yes, have just watched it myself, - it was a much lighter and gentler episode, loved it when Bobby came back and loved it when Walton Goggins appeared again, he is utterly brilliant, and absolutely wonderful in Justified.

Yes, it was funnier tonight and some real light moments, but I have a creeping feeling that something really horrible is going to happen next.

< as if everything else which has happened in last 6 episodes is utterly normal! Hands, Bombs, usual murder, death, kill. Tara's point about becoming immune to violence has sunk in!>

Charlie managed to smile many times tonight, it was all worth it for that!

Is there anyone out there apart from me and RIffy watching this? You don't know what you are missing! But as it won't air 'legally' in the UK until January SoA fans have such a long time to wait, and it is out there on the internet, brothers, well, sisters!

Last night's episode was so well written, it was a brilliant watch- especially with Walton Goggins as Venus... a really quite 'moral' - well for SOA, episode which got you thinking. Please catch up as I am aching to talk about it all!!!

I just watched it. I love Walton Goggins's character! (but what a name, he sounds like someone from Postman Pat!) We were trying to work out how they made his boobs looks so real; DH thought he was a real life transexual and I had to show him some photos of him as he usually looks, lol. I hope Venus and Tig get together, that would be awesome!

But I am really starting to dislike Tara.

The whole Tara / Gemma thing is annoying me I realise Sutter probably has some major plot twist looming but part of me wishes Tara would just get on with it and go.
I'm more than happy to change my opinion on this as I was a little anti Jax until last week when he and Booby decided they still loved each other.

Is it wrong that I'm missing the more gruesome dramatic scenes.

I am LOVING this season!

Venus is just brilliant, and played so well. Loved her and tig having a moment at the bus stop :)

As we're halfway through I'm dreading some major deaths coming soon

Do any of you watch Justified? Walton Goggins is amazingly funny and evil in that, a brilliant anti hero if ever there was one - he is a fab actor.

I am not liking Tara much either, she has been threatening to take 'er boys' and leave since series 1 - I guess that is the crux of the whole thing, will she stay or will she go (now) .... but starting to find all the female characters are grating on me now - I loved Chuckie's face in the sweetshop at the end - says it all really :)

I'm glad you said that about Justified, as I've been thinking of watching that next. I'm on series 3 of The Wire at the mo but that will be next on my watch list! I'm also interested in The Shield because of the Kurt Sutter connection, anyone seen that?

The female characters are dire tbh apart from Gemma. They're all about their relationship with Jax (Tara, Wendy) or they're hookers. It would be great to see a strong female biker come along and ask to join the MC!

Oh I've just thought of another female character - DA Patterson. She's a positive strong female I suppose, but I'm always distracted by her resemblance to Bill Cosby!

Hi again, yes do watch Justified, you will love it, Timothy Olyphant is so my absolute and utter hero - its a great series!!

Agree about the women characters they are all rather typecast in their roles, 'crow eaters' or the like, I used to love Stahl, she was really fab, in an evil kind of way!

The Shield was also great, took a while to get going but well worth it!

I've not watched Justified, I might dig into that when I run out of other things. Perhaps after this season of SOA ends. I'm watching Nashville at US pace (had no idea I liked country so much!) and also have started watching Scandal from the beginning.

LOVED The Wire. Mostly because of Macnulty to be fair :o

Hi all- Riffy hope you managed to catch up - I always use Megashare but don't quote me on that, brother.

Anyone watch episode 9 this week - the one with Clay's amazing nose biting scene! - What amazing acting that whole scene was - and the 'truth' setting everyone free? - Brilliant writing by Sutter, truly - the whole episode was very deep and dark for all the characters. What exactly does the recurring homeless woman signify - she is like Jax' protector? Or some kind of omen?

Watching Jax have his topless wash and brush up was extremely watchable.

I've just caught up. guineapiglet, I usually reach out to Torrentz but that went nomad and I patched over to PirateBay instead.

I'm always glad to see a gratuitous wet and topless scene featuring Jax. Cor he makes me go all funny, a bit like Tara did after she had the weird perfume visit with Otto and she had to go home for a wank (WTF was that all about?).

I thought the homeless woman was meant to be the girl's supposedly dead mom, and that's why Jax thought he recognised her in the photo? But then, she doesn't look old enough to be the girl's mom so I am probably wrong. It was a good episode anyway (is there ever a bad one?) and next week's should be very eventful when Jax confronts Tara! God, I hope she doesn't shoot him. Maybe the bullets will miss his flesh but inexplicably shoot off all the buttons on his shirt and trousers, causing him to spend the scene half naked...

Wow yes i remember the scene with Tara and the perfume....and this from a woman who can sleep with Jax whenever she wants!!!!

Tara's character has changed dramatically and she is almost unrecognisable. I get why she has to go but in the past five series hasnt she just worked out that she could,actually, just leave?!?!

I am also fretting about Chibs, is he the brother who is going to turn on Jax? The camera seems to linger on him and he looks rather evil wonder whether he has been reached out to by the irish kings?

Just ordered series 5 on dvd. I cannot watch the Opie scene it is too upsetting but want to rewatch, for research purposes you understand. Do you remember. Lincoln Potter? I luffed him he was a great character.

Oh yes, Lincoln Potter was fab. He reminded me of Benedict Cumberbach's Sherlock how he was a bit weird in a good way. I Googled the guy who plays him and he's 55!!! And his wife died

Clearly DA Patterson is this series' version of LP - she's good, especially when she took her wig off ( now she's bad!) but you are right, he was a kind of pseudo biker himself, and I think was never really out to get SAMCRO really out to get the other criminals. I really hope they bring him back for the final series....

I am still worried about Unser, he is looking very tired and ill now. Surely he has got to make it until the end? And where is Jax sister?

I fear guineapiglet may still be unconscious after last week's episode in which Jax's buttocks had a starring role.

Aaah yes. Tara unravelling massively now. All set up for a show down with the irish, the chinese and the DA's office next episode. Loved Nero and Unser cosying up. I fear for them both now, both have Gemma's heart. Clay supposedly 'breaking out'.

I am really hoping at some stage we finally get to hear what his 'issues' are! But I do remember how he was rescuing the dog after that horrible dog fight, and his big rivalry with Kovac (?), the brother who also loved his dog, Missy. ( Series 4?) There are aspects of him which worry me slightly tho'! _ Loved his pirate boxers in last week's episode ,
