....We are expecting not to have any pain? How bloody patronising and smug did he sound? And if there is any pain we are just going to have to overcome it. Hmm

At least he said that, if it got too bad, it would be up to her - as long as she actually does steel she can choose drugs if she needs them.

Far too much we going on there for my liking - but I have a headache, and have just made the most crap dinner ever, so it is possible I am in a bit of a grumpy mood.

and apricots are PACKED with iron.

Can I ask - if you or your child had a devastating infection, would you take antibiotics to save your or their life? Sometimes there just aren't alternatives - well, there is one, but it is pretty final. And re. the iron tablets - my impression was that several tests had shown she was anaemic and that was getting worse, so clearly whatever dietary alternatives she was using, weren't working. At that point, I think she should have taken the iron tablets, for the sake of herself and her baby. Childbirth and having a little baby are bloody tiring at the best of times, so why deliberately go into them run down?

I thought this week's couples, and Carla and her dd, were lovely, and all in all, it was a very happy episode.

I knew someone who brought her child up as a very strict vegan, refused to allow them to know the word 'doctor' or 'dentist' as they were never going to attend one, obviously no vaccinations, everything was going to be totally natural etc. One day, the child was in an accident where boiling water was spilt on her. This woman went completely bonkers and abusive because the ambulance men took more than a few minutes to arrive...Fishwife comes to mind!

ringaringarosy · 11/09/2013 12:23

stdg yes i would if there were no alternatives,im not anti medicine i just think there is a place for it,like what you described.I was watching on and off,but dont iron tablet take a while to work, wouldnt iron in the diet be quicker?apricots have loads of iron in them, its not really an alternative, but like you said whatever she was doing wasnt working for her.

eetracey dont really understand what you are saying?thats an odd post.

btw my kids are definitely not strict vegans!they eat meat nad know where it comes from too!i just thought i would point out that there are alternatives to the mainstream, reasons for using them and that not everyone who does is bonkers.sometimes people just do things because its the done thing with no thought as to why or if its the best thing.

She had every intention of her child never ever ever having to see a doctor, a dentist or any other medical professional, but the minute she needed urgent help, she changed her mind. Does that make more sense? She had made it very clear that any illness or injury would be sorted out with non mainstream medical intervention.

ringaringarosy · 11/09/2013 14:00

mine have never seen anyone medical except the midwife, but if it was a serious emergency i would take them to hospital or call an ambulance, maybe thats what she meant?are you only entitled to medical help if you rely on doctors and health visitors for everything?

EeTraceyluv · 11/09/2013 14:06

Arghh! I was just saying that I knew someone who was completely insanely adamant that No Health Professional EVER would go anywhere near her child but swiftly changed her mind when the situation was urgent. I'm not trying to have a fight Grin

ringaringarosy · 11/09/2013 14:25

what, ever?that is a bit mad to be fair. Smile

EeTraceyluv · 11/09/2013 14:40

exactly!!

MrsDibble · 11/09/2013 14:50

Loved the couple where the wife had dwarfism, and they were concerned about passing it on to their baby - then she did have it in the end and they were still completely besotted.

Thought they were gorgeous!

Wickedgirl · 11/09/2013 15:13

They were all lovely this week. I sat blubbering throughout (I'm 36 weeks pregnant though so crying is the norm at the moment). Grin

Only just watched the most recent one ( had an emergency c section saturday which was quite traumatic so didnt feel able to watch on Tuesday). Sobbing at how lovely the achondroplasia couple are, the husband was just lovely.

Terrifying to think that lovely baby would have died but for modern surgery - and they did it so neatly. Amazing.
