Very excited!

Paul Hollywood does piss me off tbh, but I love seeing all the cakes & stuff. Will probably have to make something to eat whilst watching it though...

OP posts:

Aww I love Howard!

Trumpton · 10/09/2013 20:58

Ooh ! Ali . Poor pies though. :-(

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 10/09/2013 20:58

I love Howard

Gracelo · 10/09/2013 20:59

nooooooooooo

VikingVagine · 10/09/2013 20:59

Oh dear Mel!

Trumpton · 10/09/2013 20:59

Oh toppling tower !,

ShiftyFades · 10/09/2013 21:00

Kimberly is fantastic and has the best smile I've ever seen. I'm sure Mr Hollywood has a soft spot for her.

At the moment I'd back her to win the series.

Quangle · 10/09/2013 21:01

oh no! Loved Ali...

Can't really deal with Ruby - her face is the definition of gormless. I'm team Kimberley for that reason alone.

oversomeniagara · 10/09/2013 21:07

Anyone else find Frances sinister? There is something about the twee little trees/ squirrels/ fairy tale scenes that i find very creepy...

SlowlorisIncognito · 10/09/2013 21:09

Gutted Ali went. All the other bakers seemed to really like him too :(

I like all of this lot, though, with the exception of Frances because she has just taken her gimmick too far. Going to be so sad seeing them go each week :(.

Kimberly will win.

Echocave · 10/09/2013 21:33

Kimberley is very good and all and I expect she'll win but I find her a bit smug. (Sorry am probably a cow).
Fair that she's star baker after Ruby won the other week when it could have been her.
I thought Frances was for the chop. Really liked Ali but I think it may have been a problem that he didn't seem to have baked most of the stuff before so might have struggled in later weeks.

oversomeniagara · 10/09/2013 21:45

I wonder if Frances has made little choux pastry voodoo dolls of the other contestants complete with spun sugar needles to stick them with...

Agree Kimberly should win. Her food looks really appealing and the flavours sound really tempting.

ViviPru · 10/09/2013 22:16

Howard is a real sweetheart isn't he.

I'm really sad Ali left but so SO love Glenn, he's so affable.

Those custard tarts were excruciating to watch. Bring on the biscuits!!

Lizzabadger · 10/09/2013 23:55

Oh poor Ali.

VikingVagine · 11/09/2013 07:32

this week's blog

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/09/2013 09:38

I bet the air pressure over the UK dropped substantially when that tower fell over during next week's trailer, and an entire nation gasped!

I am completely over Frances and her gimmicks - so I hope it is her tower that collapses next week. I think oversomeniagara is spot on about the choux pastry voodoo dollies, though! I was a bit smug when her filo thing didn't work and was half raw inside.

wintera · 11/09/2013 09:51

Ruby seems to get a hard time on here which is a shame as she is consistently good except of course for that dreadful first week. But since then she's been fine I think. Knew Frances wouldn't be on the bottom as she won the technical bake with her custard tarts. Sad to see Ali go, he seemed very popular with the others too. Right decision I feel though at the end of the day. Shame though as he was nice.

wintera · 11/09/2013 09:52

I bet Glenn is getting a right roasting from his students these days though after they watch these eps!

Gracelo · 11/09/2013 09:55

I hope Kimberley's filo thingie recipe will be on the GBBO page because I really want to make it. I won't do my own filo pastry though. Maybe I could do it with a Strudel pastry. I make a fine Strudel.

Really sad Ali is gone, he was so nice.

Gracelo · 11/09/2013 09:58

I like Ruby, Frances on the other hand is getting on my nerves quite a lot.

Butkin · 11/09/2013 09:58

Everybody here seems so down on Frances. Yes she is being arty but at least her creations bring some interest to the show. For all the claims of her being under threat this week just to remind everybody that she did win the Custard Tart technical challenge so she was never going to be leaving.

coffeeinbed · 11/09/2013 10:07

I really don't mind Frances as well.

It's Ruby I don't like.

Pachacuti · 11/09/2013 10:15

Oh, yy to the choux pastry voodoo dolls.

I've never made custard tarts but had no idea they were that tough to pull off.

I think if Frances can't take Paul's advice about style vs. substance on board she's surely for the chop in the next couple of weeks.

wintera · 11/09/2013 10:42

Kimberley and Ruby both did clever things this week I noticed. Kimberley poured her custard into her tarts when they were on the actual oven shelf so they didn't spill which was good. And Ruby put strips of backing paper under her custard tarts to get them out easier. I was pretty impressed with both! Can't see it being another all male final this year.

ppeatfruit · 11/09/2013 10:54

Yes ShiftyFades KIM TO WIN!!!! She's not up herself, she's sweet natured without being OTT and she can effing bake!!!!

oversomeniag Agree about Frances she's a bit straaange not listening to the judges about style over substance. The food's got to taste good as well as look good IMO I'd take taste over look any time!

WRF to the custard tarts it would've been nice to know HOW they should be made and I think the Portuguese have a lovely ancient recipe made by nuns custard tart called Pastas Da Nata (i think!). Maybe they copied us or vice versa!
