Chatting to DH the other day and he asked if I fancied a drink. I said 'just the one.' Both of us looked at each other and said simultaneously, 'Just the one, Mrs Wembley' a line from On The Up. Started me thinking of old programmes that I'd like to see again...not necessarily for their quality, just for nostalgia. Anyone got any (that haventbeen on UKTV Gold Grin )

Yy to all creatures great and small. Proper family viewing. I would really like to see a short lived bbc comedy called The Savages. Seem to remember it being very funny indeed.

Mintyy · 12/08/2013 23:18

Oh yes, absolutely loved Desmonds.

The woman who played the teenage daughter is all grown up and lives near me, I see her out and about all the time.

Sitcom: Whatever happened to the Likely Lads?

Even the theme tune makes me well up. the idea of two friends drifting apart and occupying separate worlds is sad, yet the basis for such a great comedy.

Drama: Pennies from Heaven

I can't imagine anything this audacious getting commissioned by the BBC today, not when they could knock out a few crappy reality TV/gameshows for the same cost. Brilliant.

Some good ones here! Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads is on Gold quite often. I love it. Can quote lines and everything Blush
There was a comedy with Tim Brooke Taylor and that bloke from Robin's Nest in about a single father and his teenaged daughter...what was that called?
Used to love The Ruth Rendells with the big bloke as Inspector Wexford.

I'm so glad someone mentioned Brookside! I loved it - best soap ever IMO - especially the Trevor Jordashe storyline and the Barry/Terry/Sue triangle.
They don't make them like that anymore!!

It was Me and My Girl, with Richard O'Sullivan from Robin's Nest amongst others.

I loved where the heart is (sarah lancashire and pam ferris) that was perfect sunday night viewing.

We'll Meet Again. Drama set in WW2 about US airmen stationed in UK. Anyone else remember it? Must have been in early 80s?

I do. I loved it. There was a character called Captain Red Burwash (I think). We re-named him Captain Pugwash (very, very comically blessed family)

I'd love to see The Press Gang again. I'd also like to see Not the Nine O'clock News, but I think it would probably be very dated and not as funny now, perhaps just a compilation of all the songs would do.

I used to like Howard's Way as well.

Anyone remember Eldorado?

MarilynMoanroe · 13/08/2013 20:36

I also loved Harry Enfield, especially Kathy Burke.

Agony With Maureen Lipman i the starring role. Brilliant " out there" subversive teenage watch for me dealing with gay relationships as normal characters and quite " near the line themes for 1979
