sparkler1 · 09/06/2006 16:48

Hi Guys thought it was time for another new thread after \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2000&threadid=175566&stamp=060609114410\thisone} got a bit long. Smile

So who will it be tonight? Sam or Nikki. I personally think Sam.

OP posts:
Enid · 13/06/2006 15:25

wow

I guess bb brings out all those old insecurities

I really dont feel that strongly about any of them tbh although I don't think Richard is as clever as he thinks he is. Nothing Grace has done seems particularly bad to me, I think people read a lot into it all that isn't actually there.

Enid · 13/06/2006 15:26

"Sam was behind/next to Grace saying, "Is it OK if I get some milkshake because it's my favourite drink? Grace? Is that OK? Grace?" in this really apologetic voice,"

you see that would have really irritated me Grin

nailpolish · 13/06/2006 15:31

i would have ignored sam too tbh

i dont think anyone nominates imogen cos shes so dull

Tamz77 · 13/06/2006 16:09

Well Enid you've already admitted to being one of Grace's type so I guess you just don't get it.

The normal reaction when someone asks you a question is to answer it, not to act like they don't exist. Sam's apologetic voice comes from having had to deal with disgusting characters like Grace all her life, and from them making her feel like she wasn't worth listening to and that she should be sorry for speaking. Not only do Grace and her cronies have no self-awareness, they have no empathy either, and apparently no ability to recognise a fragile personality (Sam) even when they're locked up with her 24/7. I don't even think it's funny to be honest, and yes, I appreciate the opinion that Sam shouldn't have gone in if she couldn't handle it...but be that as it may it's no excuse for the bullying.

Enid · 13/06/2006 16:11

I think sam was a freakazoid

Socci · 13/06/2006 16:15

Enid - what about the "wigger" comment?

Normsnockers · 13/06/2006 16:21

Right behind you Tamz77

The thing when someone (Nikki or Grace) mentioned that Sam's feet were like a hobbit's was so unkind. I know they didn't say it to Sam's face but they must realise that it would probably get shown/commented on or seen afterwards anyway.

To a more caring soul, unless Sam came out and said " Ha, Ha, look at my manky hobbit feet compare to your dainty feet Nikki" (or whoever it was) it's just catty spiteful put down comments.
I bet Sam would love to have dainty little feet but without surgery it's not gonna happen so why be deliberately rude about it other than with the intent of exalting oneself over someone less fortunate.

To those who don't see Grace as a bully, imagine your child is Sam and they are at school together with Grace, say age 13/14. Your child maybe suddenly starts trying to get out of going to school, their grades are dropping like a stone, you find them in tears but they won't tell you what's wrong or even worse they do tell you. You approach the school who say "Grace, it can't be, she's a very popular girl, there'a always a bit of bitchiness between teenage girls, nothing out of the ordinary".

eenywifemum · 13/06/2006 16:32

I'm with you on this Tamz77. Grace is a bully and so nasty she just can not think of not getting her own way. I know plenty of nice teenage girls who wouldnt dream of behaving the way she does.

And Socci you are right about the wigger comment - I mean - everybody knows what that means, right? So how can that be an acceptable thing to call someone?? I dont get it.

Personally Enid I think Grace is the 'freakazoid' for lacking basic reflection and compassion. I can see how Sam could be annoying but I would take her as a friend any day over a spiteful, spoiled brat.

Normsnockers · 13/06/2006 16:36

I didn't know what it mean't but is it very offensive to suggest that someone imitates another groups cultural traits ?

I've led a sheltered life in some respects, please educate me a bit.

Normsnockers · 13/06/2006 16:37

I mean't I didn't know what "Wigger" mean't and I had to look up Hoochiemamma too.

koshka1984 · 13/06/2006 16:44

When i was at school there was a girl like grace (well about 10), and they just dont seem to understand that they actually hurt people with what they are saying.

its like - if you are like me and agree with what i say, i am normal. If you are different in any way then your a freak. Argh, poor sam, but really, why did big brother let someone like her on? I know BB is a show not someones mother but poor lamb...

anyway i hope this makes sense it did in my head anyway. Comong from someone who is 2 years older than Grace, and can remember the years of been picked on by someone just like her, i would know that acting like her would mean that the public would have a bad opinion of me....

bubblez · 13/06/2006 16:46

It is not so much that it is offensive to say that someone immitates another cultures traits it more the way that it is said and the fact that it is a twist on the 'n' word like a white 'n' u know?!?! Its not nice at all....

You know like WOG litterally means western oriented gentleman but because of the abusive use of the word if anyone dreamed of calling me a wog i would be greatly offended....

Grace is a bully a backstabber and a two-faced b#~ and if I were in that house she would have another thing coming....Grin

nailpolish · 13/06/2006 16:49

what does wigger mean?

Normsnockers · 13/06/2006 16:50

I found myself going right off Lea last night, she is too volatile and ready to play the victim.

I prefer my friends to be more placid, don't take offense easily types 'cos then it helps if I put my foot in it over something.

nailpolish · 13/06/2006 16:51

ihated the way lea was suffocating pete when he was crying in the bathroom

and nikki came in and asked if he was ok and lea was practically shoving nikki away - she wants pete all to herself!!!!!!!!!!!

ScummyMummy · 13/06/2006 16:51

I would be frantic with worry if Sam was my child, Normsnockers, because she is desperately unhappy and needy. That is not because she was bullied in the bb house. It is because she has had a horrible life and is utterly screwed up. I feel very sorry for Sam and would, I hope, try my hardest to be nice to her if I had to live with her for some reason but I am sure her extreme neediness would set me on edge and drain and irritate me 24/7. I really think it is unfair to single Grace out as the source of Sam's anguish or as a super bully/bitch. I don't think Grace is particularly wonderful or anything but I honestly don't see why she is worse than any of the others. I think people basically resent her because she has had a privileged upbringing and seems a bit spoiled and used to her own way. Fair enough but I don't see that this makes her evil incarnate and I am really worried for her walking out to a mass of boos.

katierocket · 13/06/2006 16:52

why was pete crying?

nailpolish · 13/06/2006 16:53

he said he was homesick, missing his mum

bless

katierocket · 13/06/2006 16:53

Ah he's so lovely isn't he.

nailpolish · 13/06/2006 16:54

poor sam didnt even have any family waiting for ehr when she got out, just a couple of workmates

nailpolish · 13/06/2006 16:54

oh please tell me what a wigger is

ScummyMummy · 13/06/2006 17:00

\link{http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wigger\Wikipedia definition for you, nailpolish}

Northerner · 13/06/2006 17:04

Yes, I don't know what a Wigger is either, but I'm guessing the w is for white and the rest is an awful word sadly used against blacks? ie she's a white black girl IYKWIM?

I did feel sorry for Grace last night though. The public reaction she's gonna get will be awful, and really, what has she done that is so bad? It's not like she's killed anyone.

Sam really was rather odd, and she would have driven me bonkers tbh.

bubblez · 13/06/2006 17:04

Ahhh love pete!!

Nailpolish - to my knowledge a 'wigger' is 'a made up' term used to describe a white person who acts like a black person, if I'm not mistaken it came from the very racist 'n' word, and is like saying a white 'n' word, hence 'w igger'.... the word was used a lot in my school....

Enid · 13/06/2006 17:05

I think wigga is funny too Blush

AND that sam had hobbit feet

shoot me now
