This whole night on the BBC seemed to be sponsored by the Tory party and the Daily Mail it's showing the poor and how well off they are.

Does anyone watch trollied? Liam reminds me of the simple trolley boy from that.

I don't mind supporting any of them. Bit Hmm about Kelly and Liam- perhaps a proportion paid in vouchers that can only be used for non VAT items, so no pet food and phone contracts.
The single dad, Luther is a bit lost, he's bringing up his children nicely.

No one should do intern work at a company. Companies should pay people to work for them.

I agree bico.

'She does 4 or 5 days work straight. That's too much for me.'

Well said Liam, I feel exactly the same. Grin

But they do Lynette. In some form. Vat or something. Everyone at some point in their week pays some sort of tax back into the system.

Not so much pride as delusion in Liam's case!

"MEDIA STUDIES DEGREE" He must be waiting for a job at the BBC then. Failing that maybe a anchor role on "SKY SPORTS"

Good job DH didn't have that attitude when he lost his job. Or we would have lost our house. He swallowed every bit of pride he had and went out and did what he really didn't want to do, because he needed to earn an honest days pay.

I hope one day the DC realise what he did for them.

I shouldn't have switched on!
Where are all of these jobs?! It isn't always a choice! Why choose Liam out of all of the unemployed graduates there are? Hmm
That Stevie is hard-faced, mind!

Basically with the exception of Chris, each person on this programme has obviously been picked to illustrate the medias portrayal of benefit scroungers.. what a surprise Hmm

Smokinaces, it doesn't really count as paying into the system if the money you are paying in has been given to you by the system!

Interesting people chosen. I wonder what we would have felt about Liam if he had a history degree from Oxford and was supported by his grandma?

Or maybe jellykat they are a reflection? Who knows everyone will put their own spin on it.

Bico re Liam, I would feel the same if he had the same attitude

Media studies itself isn't a bad choice. I did it between 16-18. By the age of 20 id been headhunted to work for an international company on a very high (for the time) salary. But I worked for four years every weekend and spare day I could for free whilst gaining experience and doing a shitty low paid sales job just to get somewhere. It takes dedication to work in media. And Liam has no driving force.

Lynette, I hope my kids think the same about me. I've been a single parent for four years, and worked part time throughout to bring in some of our own money. I'm now retraining whilst making contacts so that when the children are out of primary school I can work full time in a career that pays. I hope they see the sacrifices i made and remember the good things, not the endless school things i missed :-(

If he gets a job at the Beeb, rises through the ranks, he might get a payoff of £949,000 of taxpayers money eventually, like mark byford

The BBC has a real cheek demonising low income families when it wastes money like this.

Just wondering why that graduate would have £39,000 in student debt. My son has just finished his third year and his was the last year to pay £3,000 pa so that lad must only have paid the same. How did £9,000 plus any student loand, say another £9,000, become £39,000?

You could chub but of course the difference is they are working in jobs that society has decided have value.
