Yes, their beauty will go as they either end up zombified or starving to death.

I don't know for sure if Victor and his family were witch-hunted but it certainly wasn't a burglary. How many burglars do you know who seek out everyone in the house and systematically slaughter them? Most burglars don't want to draw attention to their presence in your house. This was definitely a cold-blooded murder. But perhaps not a witch hunt as Pierre tries to persuade his accomplice to spare him saying that he's "just a boy". If they knew he was a returned surely they wouldn't care?

Can you starve to death in just 3 weeks?

Maybe they turned to cannibalism just because they had a fondness for eating each other...

Who are all those shadowy Revs? Where have they come from?

I do remember being surprised when Victor's episode suggested he only died 35 years ago because his clothes looked older than that. I thought 50s maybe.

Might the non-revved villagers be used as donor parts for the falling-to-bits revenants? But if the revs can regenerate their wounds, like Lucy in the hospital, does that mean they can't regenerate their decaying parts?

(I'm a bit hazy on the actual nature of the decaying parts because I shut my eyes and go la la la - or possibly bof bof bof - during those bits.)

Pierre's definitely on the side of the non-revs, though, right? Is it like one of those alien invasion set ups, where he thinks he's welcoming the revs so they'll lead them all to a new life, when in fact he's horribly misjudged them and in fact they're just after his brains?

so we still dont really know what happened to simon

not sure why episode called adele, she attempted suicide a year ago and that was it, no real info about what happened to her/simon

thought we were going to see his death:( but instead saw his willy Grin

anyone else rewind it or is that just pervy me ...................

julie/adele would have known each other from when was with policewoman

and why did toni and serge take their shoes off to swim - needed them the otr side

more to the point where did serge disappear to and toni took his boots off but didnt have in hands when swimming but managed to put them back on the other side of the dam - anyone else spot that?

no one can escape the village, plus didnt someone say that no one could escape so leave now and that was a few episodes ago

and victor -not so sweet eh, making visons happen and accidents happen - and then when he has done something/doesnt want to answer, he flings arms round julie and she says there there

talk about twisting round little finger !!!!

Simon - car accident/shot - returns to life - no apparent wounds; shot again - returns to life - no apparent wounds - starts decaying

Camille - coach crash - returns to life - no apparent wounds - starts decaying

Lena - starts decaying

Lucy - stabbed - returns to life - wounds heal completely

Serge - bashed over the head with a spade or shovel - returns to life; bashed over again - returns to life - no visible wounds (or did someone say they saw something on his shoulder?)

Julie - stabbed - possibly killed - scars still visible

Victor - shot - returns to life - starts decaying

Mme Costa - starved to death - returns hungry; killed in fire - returns again - no visible scars (possibly also shot - Victors mum?)

Erm, umm Confused

That is all. Except to say I really enjoyed the scenes between Lena and Camille, Pierre is D.O.D.G.Y and where is Serge??? I want him back wonders when I started routing for the serial killer of the show

Report
aliasjoey · 22/07/2013 11:55

I was hoping that by typing all that out, some pattern would emerge - but no, am as confused as ever.

The only link I can make is that the 'Revs' have no wounds and then start decaying (thus Julie is not one)

But this theoryhas holes, as Mme Costa and Lucy are not decaying (yet) whereas Lena is.

I assume Toni landed back on the same side of the lake, and they also walked round in circles. No-one can leave....

Am I imagining it, or did the power station engineers say in a previous episode "Let's leave while we still can" ?

So, hmm this has all happened before - the dam, the flood, power station, starvation... why does Pierre think it's going to happen again? What does he know?

NoHank yeah Serge is cute in a sort of 'I don't understand what's happening to me' way, isn't he?!

Report
RappyNash · 22/07/2013 12:10

Alias, that's exactly what the engineers said before they took off. Do we think they made it?

You know the vision that Pierre dreamt Victor showed him? What if that was real?

Report
AntoinetteCosway · 22/07/2013 13:13

I think the whole village doesn't exist in a purgatory/hell/they're all revs sort of way. The dam workers never spoke to anyone from the village and the left without warning the villagers...because the villagers don't exist. I'm sure of it!

Report
Wallison · 22/07/2013 13:21

Or maybe the dam workers are GOD THE ALMIGHTY.

Report
AntoinetteCosway · 22/07/2013 13:28

Or that...!

Report

The dam workers recognised mr Costa though, she he jumped into the dam.

NoHank · 22/07/2013 13:47

Oh yes, the Victor / Pierre dream. Wasn't there sparkly lights under the water?

And when Mme Costa said she starved to death got me wondering where the rest of the country was. They don't look so remote that they would have been cut off from the rest of France. Ditto, this current power cut - surely some sort of aid would be offered from nearby.

Which makes me wonder if the theories about the whole town / village not really existing - or at least in real time - are possible??? But then would that include everyone at the hospital and school etc because when you add them all up there is a lot more people than just in a little mountain village

And do none of them have jobs? Apart from the police officers and Adele. How can they all hang out at the Helping Hand for days at a time?

And who grabbed Serge? I was really expecting Toni to disappear so was surprised when it was Serge who went scuba diving.

So what do we know or guess? The dam, power station, drowned village all feature somehow. Some of the revs have returned before - Victor yes, Mme Costa, probably. Some are decaying, none of them are particularly freaked out about it all. They are always hungry and don't sleep, unless you are Simon. Dead animals may be involved / eaten. Pierre is involved somehow but we don't how and we don't trust him. Those that remain cannot leave. Lucy appears to be some sort of catalyst and is either drawing them to her or causing them to appear??? But maybe not because she wasn't around when Victor first appeared 4 years ago. Lucy may be one herself. Serge is hotter than Simon needs to come back so I can ogle him

Report
Blondeshavemorefun · 22/07/2013 13:48

That's it. The engineers said leave. Knew someone did

Guess they managed to escape as having been seen

Maybe all are dead and all a dream like Dallas?

A mixture of sixth sense - the shinning and the others and drea
House (weird film. Saw that the other week and enjoyed)

Sparkling lights in the lake = revenants/souls?

Report

Good summary NotHank Still doesn't make any sense at all though.

Is Claire wearing her wedding ring on a necklace? Is it significant? Is anything significant ?!

The music reminds me of music from The Mothman Prophecies.

NoHank · 22/07/2013 14:23

Am I right in thinking the really discordant music, the one that sets your teeth on edge, only plays when it is a scene with Victor in? That's what I thought anyway, which seems to imply he is evil in some way.

@AntoinetteCosway

I am going to be so pissed off next week when they leave all these plot points hanging!

You and me both.

"Sandrine" is miscarrying lady
She was at the grief group in ep one announcing the news iirc
I love the idea that it's a zombie baby
I did get goosebumps when Serge disappeared in the lake.

People CAN leave the village...it is just the Revs that can't. Eg. Serge was with his brother, that's why they kept going in circles round the forest. Also when Serge disappeared in the lake...maybe it was the border of the village and he could go no further. They kept circling in the car because Victor was with them. Yet there have been non-revs who've left..

Report
oneeyedjacques · 22/07/2013 15:12

But surely there are rabbits and eatable small animals in the woods to fend off starvation for longer than three weeks? Didn't Serge/Toni come back with a few of them the other day? Maybe not enough to feed a whole town though (although how big IS this town?)

Apols if it's been pointed out already, but you know there's a similar flooded village in the Lake District, where Haweswater reservoir Haweswater reservoir is now?
