Shock

This is a thread for all fans of the weekday soap Doctors, BBC1, 1.45pm. However, it's taking its annual break from 21st June until it returns on 22nd July.

Therefore, us fans are waiting patiently in the virtual waiting room.

  • Mrs T is rearrrrrrrrrrranging the leaflets
  • Zaniel are getting frisky in the cupboard (again)
  • Al is spying on Jas eating her lunch (disclaimer: he may fancy the lunch more than Jas)

So regulars please sign in and take a seat. Newbies very welcome indeed as we plan to keep the thread going by talking drivel throughout the break. 'Tis fun Grin

That's a bit better! Smile

It seems decorating is high on the list for most people but doesn't always get done. Who I'm with you on the space issue. I decorated DS1's tiny bedroom last year and as I was bending over to paint one wall, my backside was smearing the paint on the other. And I put my back out contorting every which way round the furniture.

The red is definitely going although I'll have to undercoat over it as it's a really deep shade. Not starting it today, I've washed my hair.

Hello MsNo reporting for decorating duty chat. We redecorated our bedroom last year- 3 walls white paint & one silvery grey-looks vair nice. Smile
We'd been here 10+ years & nothing done to that room (left it last like Anne)

Raahh · 02/07/2013 17:33

I don't do decorating. The stupity of spacing children 4 years apart is showing on my wallsGrin as soon as one child grew out of the 'fingers on walls' stage, I had another.

I'm going to wait a while til youngest is 18 before I do anything other than whallop walls magnolia (once a decade).

MsNobodyAgain · 02/07/2013 17:40

Raahh all my downstairs is magnolia for that reason.

told I feel a bit more confident now you've said that. I've been looking at samples online but haven't chosen yet. I didn't start on the undercoating as I washed my hair this morning and I want at least 2 days out of it before it gets full of paint specks and I couldn't be bothered

I wonder if MrsT has a decorating wig? Hmm

OP posts:
MsNobodyAgain · 02/07/2013 17:42

Oh god, I have mentioned my hair already. I'm losing my marbles!

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 02/07/2013 17:43

Never considered silvery grey. Sounds nice though. Which one did you use, Told?

toldmywrath · 02/07/2013 17:48

Umm not sure about the shade name-we used the whole tin, so who knows! YY to a decorating wig (but I suppose I could blame the grey in my hair on paint Grin

Raahh · 02/07/2013 17:48

@ 'decorating wig' - bet she does, with integrated head scarf.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/07/2013 17:53

One benefit of having not done any decorating for 10 years is that I am remarkably laid back about the DCs putting marks on walls, spills on carpets etc. I still bollock them because you have to, but I don't really mind all that much.

You could always don a shower cap MsN - perhaps that is what MrsT would do.

MsNobodyAgain · 02/07/2013 18:53

I don't own a shower cap but all 3 of my sisters do. I bet it's not the done thing to borrow a shower cap and return it full of paint though.

I'll have to go to Wilkis or Home Bargains. Or the poundshop.

Not.

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/07/2013 06:29

How can you not own a showercap, MsN? Anyway, that is besides the point. Mrs T would wear one of those see-through plastic hair rain covers, not a shower cap.

I miss Doctors. The other soaps are rubbish in comparison.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/07/2013 09:11

I have two, a lovely pink polka dot one with bows for every day use and a manky stained old one for hennaing my hair, I would nick a disposable one from work for decorating.

MsNobodyAgain · 03/07/2013 09:27

I am obviously in the minority shower cap wise. I just lower the shower head so my hair doesn't get wet.

I'm missing Doctors too. Just checked and it is definitely not back on next week. BBC are showing 'Land Girls', I won't be watching that.

Bingo day today again. Will the winning streak continue?

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/07/2013 09:32

Spend any winnings on a shower cap, MsN!

Who - where on Earth do you work that means you have access to disposable shower caps? Confused

This is what I think Mrs T would choose to keep her wigs pristine

Raahh · 03/07/2013 09:37

Grin @ that wind visor- why would anyone e-bay sucha thing? they are probably 50p at the £1 shop!Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 03/07/2013 09:50

I wash my hair daily so have no need for a shower cap, I am apparently lucky that its dead straight so I wash and leave it.

Very Envy of all of you decorating! We last did our downstairs almost 5 years ago and I'm so sick of it but dh won't even consider painting :(. We always use silk rather than Mary and then all hand prints wipe away, which is handy with between 3 and 8 kids in the house for 10hrs a day and 2 or 3 the rest of the time. Not to mention the four cats and dog!

I've ha such a hectic week so far and haven't been home any evenings so hardly any tv and still not caught up on once up a time and there's now another episode to watch! Evening TV is rubbish this time of year, guessing we're all supposed to be out in our gardens enjoying the weather. Another wet one here today :(

Hope those who like it are enjoying the Tennis!

toldmywrath · 03/07/2013 16:17

Cinnamon -I'm glad you use silk rather than Mary (that typo/auto correct made me arf)
I have THREE shower caps-one polka dot blue with bows (bought from the Danish shop Tiger)This is my posh one. The other two are well made Boots ones, but are not as fetching as the polka dot one.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/07/2013 17:10

My pink polka dot one was from Tiger Told. I love that shop.

Cinnamon another wash and leaver here, but mine is bouncy and wavy (wild if we are honest). I only wash it every 2-3 days though as I use a lot of conditioner and it takes ages to rinse out and several hours to dry.

toldmywrath · 03/07/2013 17:18

I love Tiger shop too Who I can always find something to buy in there & well cheap too. I did wonder, ahem, if your shower cap was a Tiger one from your description Smile

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/07/2013 17:37

I took the DCs there to do their Christmas shopping last year Told - they were able to find the perfect presents for everyone in the family for about a pound each in there, it was lovely and quiet when we went after school too, happy days. I always pop in when I'm passing, it's like the Ikea of the high street.

MsNobodyAgain · 03/07/2013 18:17

Small win at bingo, enough to cover the cost.

Mum had to take her cat to the vets when we got back. Apparently he's only got weeks left but isn't in pain. Mum has brought him home as she can't bear to part with him yet.

Very sad
Sad Sad Sad

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/07/2013 18:46

Sorry to hear about the cat MsN, hope your mum (and you) can take comfort from the lack of pain, very sad though.

toldmywrath · 03/07/2013 19:10

Your poor mum MsNo we grow to love our pets & it's hard when they have to go. Sad

MsNobodyAgain · 03/07/2013 19:15

Ta. I know I said I didn't like cats but he is lovely and Mum has had such enjoyment from him. She said she's too old to get another.

I hope he passes peacefully.

OP posts:
toldmywrath · 03/07/2013 19:21

My MIL has just got a kitten & she's in her seventies (you could always volunteer to take the cat over if it's too much for your mum-or perhaps you already have your hands full with your DC Grin )
