Shock

This is a thread for all fans of the weekday soap Doctors, BBC1, 1.45pm. However, it's taking its annual break from 21st June until it returns on 22nd July.

Therefore, us fans are waiting patiently in the virtual waiting room.

  • Mrs T is rearrrrrrrrrrranging the leaflets
  • Zaniel are getting frisky in the cupboard (again)
  • Al is spying on Jas eating her lunch (disclaimer: he may fancy the lunch more than Jas)

So regulars please sign in and take a seat. Newbies very welcome indeed as we plan to keep the thread going by talking drivel throughout the break. 'Tis fun Grin

Decorative only are the wings.

My two share bunkbeds and swap over when we change the sheets, it is guaranteed that anyone who loses a tooth is in the top bunk that week.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 18/07/2013 12:45

I thought they could fly, but health and safety rules mean that they can't lift heavy items at height so can't collect from bunk beds?

Raahh · 18/07/2013 14:06

See, I couldn't think of a plausible explanation- which led to eye-rolling from Ds who basically knew the whole thing was for his sister's benefit and was after some money

I the tooth fairy usually gets drunk forgets. We should sack her, really.

Grin
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/07/2013 14:54

Just switched on OFAH, it looks so dated.

MsNobodyAgain · 18/07/2013 14:55

Loving the Tooth Fairy quizzing Grin. DS2 has swallowed every tooth he has lost and screams at me if I mention the Tooth Fairy. He is well cheap where teeth are concerned.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/07/2013 16:38

Mine have seen the tooth fairy film so they feel pretty sided about tooth fairy magic Grin

Ds1 lost his first tooth the night he was due to sleep at nanny's but he left his tooth here for me to put under his pillow.

Dss lost his first one in the school dinner hall an it got swept up but she still came, he was only 4. He is now 12 but keeps quiet for his brothers :)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/07/2013 16:39

That should have said sussed not sided!

MsNobodyAgain · 18/07/2013 17:37

It is dated who and some of the jokes on OFAH would not be considered PC in todays sitcoms. I still enjoy most of the episodes though, especially the really early ones. Blush

Just seen on Facebook that it is still snowing in Letherbridge on Monday. Those poor souls. Bet you can still buy paddling pools there.

Going back to the Mr Darcy-lovefest - I've just seen on the local news that Lyme Park, which isn't far from me (and where the infamous lake scene was filmed)- have put a 12ft statue in the lake of a Colin Firth/Darcy lookalike. Looks bloody ridiculous!Grin

apparently it's been living in the Serpentine in Hyde park up til nowGrin

point and laugh

Raahh · 18/07/2013 20:05

Anne- yep, letherbridge must be full of unwanted poolsGrin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 18/07/2013 20:08

Grin Raahh! It obviously loses something from the original! Looks more like Jeff Stelling.

MsNobodyAgain · 18/07/2013 20:09

That statue is actually quite scary Raahh Shock unless you imagine his far away look is because he is concentrating on piddling in the water.

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/07/2013 20:16

Arf at Jeff Stelling, it does look like him and that is mot a recommendation for it.

This is the most WTF thread I have ever been on Smile.

Raahh · 18/07/2013 20:22

piddling in the water

Grin

not quite the look they were going for, I think.

And it's good to know the WTF quotient of the thread remains as high when Doctors is off air, as when it is on. Grin

MsNobodyAgain · 19/07/2013 07:02

She's going to ruin it isn't she? Kate, I mean.

She's going to give birth at 1.45pm on Monday.

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/07/2013 07:16

It is going to be worse than that. At about 1.42pm on Monday there will be sightings of a car at Buckingham Palace, and they'll have rolling news with endless "experts" discussing "is this it"? We will miss Doctors.

Tuesday she will go in. Endless discussion of what she was wearing, and does that mean boy or girl. We will miss Doctors.

Wednesday she will still be there. Endless discussion of whether length of labour means boy or girl. We will miss Doctors.

Thursday she will have had it. Endless discussion of it being a boy or girl and how their "experts" predicted this based on what she was wearing / length of labour / phase of the moon. We will miss Doctors.

Friday she will come out on to the steps of the Lindo Wing. Endless discussion of how she hasn't lost her baby weight yet and what she is wearing. We will miss Doctors.

Alternatively, she could be a love and just nip to her parents' local hospital today and get it all over and done with so we can watch Doctors in peace next week.

MsNobodyAgain · 19/07/2013 07:21

Anne I am both Smile and Sad at your post. Brill observations.

She's going to ruin the whole week. Doctors will be delayed. It will still be snowing in Letherbridge in August.

Aaaaaargh!!

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 19/07/2013 07:29

The whole country will be in drought, standpipes in the streets, and Letherbridge will still have blizzards!

Raahh · 19/07/2013 09:20

DD1 is having an end of term 'Birth of royal baby' party at Rainbows next Thursday- so Kate had better have delivered by then, or I'll be sending biscuits for no reason.Grin

I think kate should go to Letherbridge for the birth- it was good enough for Zara. Had dd1 in the August of 2006 (i.e the last actual summer we had)- it was 3 days of hell, culminating in an emcs. Much better to give birth where it's a bit chilly, imo. Though I imagine the Lindo wing has better air-con than my local hospital (for air-con, read 'partially open window' and one fan between 4 cubicles). Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/07/2013 09:25

Raah mine were born in Jan and Feb and it was boiling in hospital both times. I remember summer 06 being hot, I was on mat. leave and we spent the whole summer in the garden.

Raahh · 19/07/2013 09:30

Who- it was hot- it was a nightmareGrin I looked like an over-heated weeble.

Ds was a December baby- much better, but yes the hospital was too warm. Must cost a fortune in heating bills!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/07/2013 09:33

I'm envious of people with summer babies when it comes to birthday party hosting - so many more options in the summer. Jan is crap, you have to organise it in the run up to Christmas and everyone is suffering with festivity fatigue - my birthday is in Feb as well but after DS's and we are completely out of enthusiasm by the time mine rolls round. Can't imagine Dec birthdays are great in that respect either.

MsNobodyAgain · 19/07/2013 10:23

My boys were born in December so they get birthday and Xmas done within 3 weeks. I don't like it but it doesn't seem to worry them.

DD1 was born on one of the hottest days in 2003. Hellish. People kept bringing me fruit which went mouldy within a few hours. No-one bought me a ice lolly. Sad

OP posts:
Raahh · 19/07/2013 13:04

Ds is the 29th Dec- and I'm the 30th. So I should have known better really .

Consequently -DD1 is August, and DD2, September! (although August summer holiday birthdays bring a whole host of other issues).Grin

ooh- it's nearly Monday! Doctors here we come (until the dcs finish school and object to me watching itGrin)
