Shock

This is a thread for all fans of the weekday soap Doctors, BBC1, 1.45pm. However, it's taking its annual break from 21st June until it returns on 22nd July.

Therefore, us fans are waiting patiently in the virtual waiting room.

  • Mrs T is rearrrrrrrrrrranging the leaflets
  • Zaniel are getting frisky in the cupboard (again)
  • Al is spying on Jas eating her lunch (disclaimer: he may fancy the lunch more than Jas)

So regulars please sign in and take a seat. Newbies very welcome indeed as we plan to keep the thread going by talking drivel throughout the break. 'Tis fun Grin

MsN - have you got a laminator? We had the no bunting in the shops crisis last year and used this template make your own bunting. Very easy and hardly uses any paper, I got the DCs to colour them in, laminated them and put them on the front door with a bit of string.

Of course after the Jubilee it all reappeared half price so I stocked up

HoggyTruffle · 11/07/2013 10:23

The neighbours are used to me getting the bunting out at every opportunity

MsNobodyAgain · 11/07/2013 12:12

Thanks who I have saved the template even though I have no laminator. I can always hang it indoors.

hoggy glad I made you Smile

DS2's blood results were fine. Regular checks needed for the rest of his life but they get less frequent. Back in October for next one. The consultant said his prognosis is very good as he hasn't relapsed in the first year since stopping chemo.

Gonna chuck an extra few quid in the next cancer/leukaemia charity box I see.

Happy days Smile Grin Smile Grin

That's a relief MsN, both for today and the prognosis. I decided a while ago to stop chucking all my small change in a pot at home, mainly because I hate counting up all the grubby pennies when it gets full. I now empty my purse of coppers into charity pots on shop counters instead, next time it goes in a cancer one I will think of you and DS.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 11/07/2013 12:44

So pleased both your DSs are ok, MsN and Who. Smile

I have saved that bunting template too - thank you very much!

Laminators are great - and I got mine for about £12 in Tesco ages ago, so not expensive.

DD just had her last day at pre-school. I am ashamed to say I blubbed! I wasn't alone thankfully. Now just got to find things to occupy her until September. Confused

So, we've got just over a week to go - do you think this heatwave has reached Letherbridge? I hope they haven't had floods from all the melting snow. With their filming schedule we'll probably see them wearing shorts and t-shirts at Christmas!

Raahh · 11/07/2013 12:46

Fantastic news MsN !! Lovely news on a lovely day.

We need a summer-y emoticon thinks luck was pushed getting the tennis one Grin

Raahh · 11/07/2013 12:52

Anne- I was heartbroken when DD1 left her nursery. They had been so brilliant with her. I was about 2 months away from having dd2, so very hormonal and fed up generally. I held it together then wept buckets in the car. They were lovely though- let her go back for her 4th birthday in the August. So I got to cry all over again that time tooGrin

Raahh · 11/07/2013 12:53

abd Anne- I expect the heatwave to reach Letherbridge around November. Once the snow has melted.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/07/2013 12:55

I was emotional when both DCs left nursery, DD left a week before Christmas (long story) and they let her come back and sing with the others in a little outdoor carol service the evening before Christmas Eve, .

MsNobodyAgain · 11/07/2013 13:12

I once went to a leavers ceremony at the boys school. I sobbed...my children weren't even leaving! Blush

Re Doctors. Do we really want to see Al in shorts? I think not. Pray for rain.

OP posts:
Raahh · 11/07/2013 13:22

Al in shorts? You may have a point there, MsN

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/07/2013 13:31

Wouldn't mind seeing Daniel in shorts though...

Raahh · 11/07/2013 13:45

who Grin

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 11/07/2013 13:48

ladies in the know... sorry to intrude but where is Doctors??
has it been forever replaced with land girls?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 11/07/2013 13:57

Never It is off for the tennis plus two reasonless weeks. Back on the 22nd.

Feel free to join us for random inane chat in the meantime, though. Grin

Raahh · 11/07/2013 16:42

Do we still have a hosepipe ban? Ds is drowning dd2 in the garden and it just occurred to me that this may be the case.

Grin
toldmywrath · 11/07/2013 16:48

Sorry Who I realised that I to missed your pinned arm post-poor DS-is the hot weather making his cast/arm feel more uncomfortable?
Good news MsNo glad to hear it.
When will your DC have a leavers ceremony? You could re use the bunting (that you haven't yet found to buy) for drying your tears.
Yep we have 99p stores here-makes you feel that you have a real bargain if you buy from there (rather than the more expensive Poundland)
Grin

toldmywrath · 11/07/2013 16:49

Should be two O's in Too Blush

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/07/2013 17:15

Thanks for all the thoughts for DS and his arm. He seems to have got used to the casts (he's on his 5th now), he stopped complaining about the itching after the first few days. He is moaning bitterly about all the restrictions still on him activity wise though, he has been told no contact sports for another 2 months and I have pulled him out of an activity day at Cubs on Saturday. He should be grateful though, he's getting far more time on the computer than he normally would and has been let off an awful lot of chores over the last few weeks.

MsNobodyAgain · 11/07/2013 17:23

who just seen your post on charity donation. Thank you. Smile

I have given up on buying bunting and now have a new urgent need, a paddling pool. Argos are sold out. Oh no!

told DD will be leaving primary school this time next year. The boys will be 2 years after that. I plan to wail loudly at both ceremonies.

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 11/07/2013 18:20

Try Asda for a paddling pool. I got one last year - rectangular, quite big and only £10.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/07/2013 18:32

99p stores probably has paddling pools

Neither of my DCs are leaving anywhere this year, although DD goes up to the juniors it is simply a case of moving to the classroom next door, the key stages are very integrated in our school. DS has two years left at primary. I have a friend with 4 DCs and wide age gaps, by the time her youngest leaves she'll have had a child at that school for 17 consecutive years. Will you be like that Ood? (it is you that's got 4 isn't it?)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 11/07/2013 18:40

I made sure that there was enough room for me to lie down in our paddling pool! And sometimes I even let DD in it.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/07/2013 18:43

We've just got a water meter installed (against our will) so the paddling pool has remained in the shed.

Raahh · 11/07/2013 19:29

I need to buy a paddling pool- though we have been forecast showers maybe Saturday. I expect to spend most of tomorrow scouring all the bargain shops of delight, praying for rain. There's no room-and I've discovered the hose has sprung a leak. It's too warm
