Eyes down for a full house on Monday.

Hopefully we can combine both threads.

In advance, why don't we each post ONE theory, then we can all gloat afterwards about how clever we are Grin

Chris Chibnall confirmed as writer for series 2 - he already had the idea in his head when he delivered series 1.
Liar, liar, pants on fire to all that "there will be only one"...

nowahousewife · 22/04/2013 22:33

Opps meant littlebairn

bottleofbeer · 22/04/2013 22:34

I think Will Mellor's character turned out to be a genuine psychic. Along with Beth seeing Danny at the end.

A subtle, not too inyerface nod towards the paranomal.

AllOverIt · 22/04/2013 22:35

God I hope not Itsokayitsjustmybreath! Grin

teejwood · 22/04/2013 22:35

Just in case I'm not back online later, thank you everyone for your company on the various threads and well done to everyone who called it!

Ruprekt · 22/04/2013 22:40

Am not sure there really will be series 2.

Have googled BC2 and the writer does not seem keen as series 1 was meant to be an 8 part drama only.

yellowhousewithareddoor · 22/04/2013 22:41

Hmmm. What will I do during the week if I''m not obsessively checking the threads? Thanks for sharing the journey everyone.

teejwood · 22/04/2013 22:41

Ruprekt - there is a press statement from ITV confirming series 2 and Chibnall involvement

teejwood · 22/04/2013 22:42

Chibnall's involvement

bottleofbeer · 22/04/2013 22:42

It clearly said at the end Broadchurch will be back.

BOF · 22/04/2013 22:49

It's been great having this thread- thanks everyone, I'll miss this!

Ruprekt · 22/04/2013 22:51

I stand corrected SmileSmileSmile

ItsOkayItsJustMyBreath · 22/04/2013 22:52

Well said BOF!

Such a lot of brilliant minds on here, it's been great discussing theories.

spotty26 · 22/04/2013 22:58

Why didn't Joe, as a paramedic, try to resuscitate Danny. Bugging me.

Flibbertyjibbet · 22/04/2013 23:01

I was disappointed at the sleeping tablet thing it was a typical agatha christie thing.
However I think it fitted in with how (with my 20/20 hindsight) we knew nothing about ellie and her family, we had no clue what went on in her house and crucially neither did she.

But. Big BUT. Why was nige leaving that message for his mum? Has he done away with pq and was expecting them to come after him for that?

I predict the next series will have oc divorced from joe and at some point wilk shag dts brains out, causing him to die on the job from his heart condition.

difficultpickle · 22/04/2013 23:04

I suppose the denouement fits with the fact that most people who are murdered by someone they know.

Disappointed there will be a second series, bit like Homeland for doing that.

nipersvest · 22/04/2013 23:04

i actually thought that outcome was a bit of a letdown. acting was brilliant from all of them, and although i did think joe/tom were involved, it was a very similar ending to mayday, police woman's dodgy husband was the killer in both.

second series would only be worth watching if it has one or both of dt and oc in it still.

MrsShrek3 · 22/04/2013 23:06

thank you for fascinating theories and intelligent discussion. you're awesome, you lot Grin

difficultpickle · 22/04/2013 23:06

I don't think either DT or OC will be in the next series.

IloveJudgeJudy · 22/04/2013 23:07

I really enjoyed the series. I thought the acting was fantastic and I liked the device of slow-mo.

DD and I watched it together (the only thing we have watched together for ages). We were both completely shocked when it turned out that Joe was cuddling Danny. We had been discussing who it might be, but were still shocked. I think we would have been shocked, whoever it had been.

I don't usually watch serials as I quite often miss an episode, but this has had us hooked.

PenguinBear · 22/04/2013 23:08

I missed the whole series bar the last 20mins of tonight. Can anyone give me A Brief summary? How did he die? I know who killed him but how
And why?

M0naLisa · 22/04/2013 23:08

Glad there's a series 2 being commissioned

Blu · 22/04/2013 23:10

Why did. Nigel tell his mother people would be saying things about him?

And did it look as if Becca and the vicar were an item at the end? Given her job running a bar and him 'in recovery' I think the relationship unwise.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/04/2013 23:10

Finally watched

Am I the only one who feels robbed and let down

This has been going on 8hrs 2months wait and I thought the ending was a bit shit

Have I got this right ?

So JO liked to have cuddles with 11yr boys and Danny knew this wasn't right and was going to blab and JO killed him accident

So was kinda a child abuse storyline :(
Even though Danny wasn't abused but perhaps it he hadn't off died then he may have

Fab acting from Ellie x

DuelingFanjo · 22/04/2013 23:13

All those red herrings meant that the whodunit became more important than the effect the murder had on the community. I think they got it really wrong.

Texts from mum - red herring
Diesel - red herring
Vicar with a drink problem and past misdemeanors - red herring
Skateboard - red herring
Clocks stopped - red herring
Crossbow - red herring
Sister with difficulties and asking for money - red herring

It was good while we were all guessing that everyone in the whole village must have done it but the ending was beyond pants.
