There was definitely a flicker between him and Joan. He left university because of a failed relationship I think, so another failure or tragedy could set him up for a single life.

Shaun Evans in Morse reminds me of Ian Beale in Eastenders about 20 years ago. Similar facial expressions and hair. So I'm having trouble seeing Morse in him.
