I've watched it since the start, can't believe it's been ten years and the children are now 13!

OP posts:
devientenigma · 15/03/2013 15:27

I too shed a tear when williams dad was on about jumping off a bridge. I have come close to parking my car in a river with DS and I in. DH thinks I'm silly but when he said it, I turned around and said well it's took them 13 year, it's only took me 12. We have similar issues, different disabilities though strangely enough we are Davis too lol Grin

I think you are all fab and so are the kids, I just wish I had all your strength and courage xx

drjohnsonscat · 15/03/2013 15:33

yes he looked as though he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. I do hope things seem a bit easier now - though I have no experience of any of this so cannot really imagine how people find such strength every single day. devientenigma I'm sorry that bit resonated with you - it's so wrong that some people get given so much to cope with every day and people like me have no idea.

pigletmania · 15/03/2013 15:36

All the families are amazing. I dident think poor shelby would make it. Williams family have done the right thing

devientenigma · 15/03/2013 15:39

thats ok drj it takes all walks of life.............it might make DH to think twice next time the whole situation gets me down and I feel like that, knowing it didn't just cross my mind but has others. I too have pointed out to him that some have actually done it. I have DS at home full time as there is no suitable school. He can't leave the house or his car and if he feels it's a good day and does he becomes very aggressive etc. He is a very unpredictable kid. I get remarks such as should he be out in the community etc. The last outing he done was about a month ago, the incident ended up at management level which is fair enough but it's left DS unable to leave the house since. Internet is my life Grin but Sad

Wow, thanks for posting, Neverbored. Pleased to hear how well William is doing at his school.

Magimedi · 15/03/2013 16:46

Neverbored - thank you for your update. I often think of you & al lthe other families on the programme.

And all of you who are struggling with children with special needs - there but for luck go I.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/03/2013 17:07

neverbored thank you for your update - glad william is settling in at his school, and as you said the decision was hard but you have to do whats best for william and your family x

ISpyPlumPie · 15/03/2013 17:17

Watched this last night and nothing I can say can really sum up how in awe I am of these incredible young people and their families.

Neverbored - it's lovely to hear that William is happy and doing so well. I think you and your DH did an amazing job fighting to get him the provision he deserves, it's just so wrong that you had to fight at all.

Devientenigma - I really hope you and your DS get the support you need soon.

crashdoll · 15/03/2013 17:17

Thank you for updating us Neverbored. William is a gorgeous boy - inside and out. You can tell he has a wonderful, fiesty spirit. So lovely to hear he's doing well, what fantastic and loving parents you are. :)

chrome100 · 16/03/2013 20:23

I've just watched this on catch up. I don't have any kids of my own, let alone have any experience of SN, so this was such an eye opener for me at how hard life can be for some families. It really puts my own (very paltry) problems into perspective. They were all such lovely families and kids and I wish them all well.

Bakingnovice · 16/03/2013 23:44

I've watched from the start too. Such amazing kids and parents. I feel honoured and humbled that I've been allowed a peek into their journey.

Neverbored - lovely update on William. There is something about him and his expression in his eyes which just speaks a thousand words. It was amazing to see his reaction to the school. What a wonderful and brave mum you are to fight so hard for him.

Zoe really touched me too. So beautiful and articulate, but so vulnerable in parts. Hamish is just brilliant and lovely little Shelby. I can't watch without a huge lump in my throat and my heart swelling with pride at the lovely teenagers. God knows how proud the parents must be. Totally brilliant tv.

SoggySummer · 19/03/2013 08:31

I cannot see in in my TV guide and want to make sure I dont miss it.

spiderbabymum · 19/03/2013 09:58

haggisandneeps · 19/03/2013 10:06

Neverbored: So glad to hear that William is doing well at school. All 4 of you are amazing.

My heart was breaking for Shelbie and her family. Thank God she pulled through again.

Looking forward to seeing Hamish at the Paralympics soon!

My little girl is going in to hospital in June to have the same operation as Zoe is having although Zoe is having pins in and my daughter is having a metal plate. I'll be interested to see how the operation works and how Zoe is after. She's such a tough wee cookie (they all are).

LottieJenkins · 20/03/2013 20:52

I am watching now in tears. I found it very moving watching William and his family visit the residential school. I visited Wilf's school with his Dad once before he died and then with my Mum and Dad. His "other Mum" and I took him when he first went to stay at school. He loved it straight away. He turned to me and signed "Bye Mumma see you Friday!" I sobbed all the way back to the QE2 Bridge (or the Dartboard Crossing as Wilf calls it!) NeverBored You and your family are AMAZING!! We are in Suffolk and were turned down the first time for his placement too!

hazeyjane · 20/03/2013 21:57

I notice there is a Born to be Different night, from 7pm on Sat, showing excerpts from all the shows. I missed the earlier ones, so look forward to this.

Anyone watching tonight?

Shoppinglist · 21/03/2013 21:28

I was late home, going to catch up on +1

chesticles · 21/03/2013 21:35

I love this programme, and have watched it from the start, and often think about all the children and how they are getting on. I have such admiration for than and their families.

LeeCoakley · 21/03/2013 21:42

Shelbie's prognosis is not good Sad. How devastating for the family considering how many times she's been on life support and survived.
