sexy david tennant 'blonde drools' plays a police officer who investigate a childs body found on the beach :(

My money is on the hotel woman's male boss at the moment. I admit I have a lack of evidence.

bigbadbarry · 26/03/2013 10:31

Also, there was no evidence that Danny was sexually abused, just strangled - so even if papershop man did like little boys, it doesn't mean he killed him does it. It was interesting how obviously they avoided saying whether he'd been put away for sex with a boy or a girl though: too red a red herring IMO.
I also noticed that OC's husband had come from Whitby.
And even if I was editor of a newspaper and On A Story, if anybody came and told me to back off investigating them or they'd have me raped, I'd call the police. Especially when there has been a murder!

auforfoulkesake · 26/03/2013 10:41

I think there must be more than one person involved. and perhaps it was an accident.

Asheth · 26/03/2013 12:59

Psychic man seems very keen to stop the investigation. Surely he knows that the police wont stop investigating even if Beth stopped wanting to know.

difficultpickle · 26/03/2013 13:04

I don't think Will Mellor wants to stop the investigation, he wants to steer it in the direction of closer to home. I reckon OC's husband is prime suspect and OC knows more than she is letting on.

StrangerintheNight · 26/03/2013 13:53

No Northernlurker, I think the so-called psychic was the one in the high-vis vest arguing with Danny. Someone else suggested this earlier in the thread I think.

If so, he's definitely near the top of the suspects lists, given the big rant DT had at him yesterday - 'I'll have you in prison' etc. The irony of him being right under DT's nose the whole time, and being threatened with arrest, but for the wrong crime, would be quite sweet.

StrangerintheNight · 26/03/2013 13:57

According to Radio Times (spoiler alert) the tent comes down next week. Phew, at last!

Still18atheart · 26/03/2013 13:59

As it stands in the Still18 household we reckon most likely suspects are the plumber, the plumbers mate and or Miller's husband.

We also think that Jack the ex pedophile seems to be too obvious to be the person who did it.

CalamityKate · 26/03/2013 14:03

But maybe Jack is so obvious it'll end up being him? Sort of a double bluff?! :)

Anyway can anyone confirm how accurate the "We have to inspect every grain of sand on that beach...every skin flake...every fag butt" etc line is? Or was it a bit of hyperbole to make a point? How far DO the SOCOs inspect?

Clawdy · 26/03/2013 14:08

I too think Jack's sex offence will turn out to be with a girl when he was a teenager. I also think he will be driven to suicide by the revelation.

CalamityKate · 26/03/2013 14:11

Me too Clawdy. Surely they wouldn't use the term "underage sex" if they were referring to the sort of child abuse they clearly want us to think they mean?

LIZS · 26/03/2013 14:15

plumbers mate and Pauline Quirke must have previous. In the age of the internet it should not take this long to pull it together nor should the editor have just stumbled upon it. The dodgy characters must be renowned locally. What is the vicar feeling so guilty about ?

marioncole · 26/03/2013 16:02

How do we know that OC's husband came from Whitby?

MandragoraWurzelstock · 26/03/2013 16:04

I thought it was Cardiff?

MandragoraWurzelstock · 26/03/2013 16:05

I have to say I don't think it's OC's husband or Jack.

bigbadbarry · 26/03/2013 16:10

When DT came for dinner and they were chatting about how they met, didnt OC's husband say he'd moved there from Whitby 13 years ago? Or maybe it was Cardiff, confused now.

PuffPants · 26/03/2013 16:17

I thought Miller's husband said he'd lived in Cardiff too. Mentioning Whitby twice in one episode would be a bit Famous Five, surely?

The under-age sex thing is a bit disappointingly obvious too. Clearly not a paedophile thing or they'd have said so. Him burning those pictures at the end is also a red herring, he's just panicking they'll try to implicate him with anything they can. Sad really to go down they route.

Have to say I'm not enjoying it as much as I'd hoped. Last night didn't move the plot along at all in any useful way. And I'm finding the family bizarre. They don't seem very upset about it all! Did I see the mother in her gym kit in one scene? I don't really get how she's playing it, it's not ringing true for me.

Oblomov · 26/03/2013 16:22

I liked policewoamn, when she was in 'Vicar' , as his wife.
I still can't figure it out who the killer is, not the newsagent or the vicar, but i don't know who.

FIFIBEBE · 26/03/2013 16:32

After the post-mortem on Danny, the pathologist told DT and OC that "Mercifully there was no sign of sexual abuse" just to add to the Jack didn't abuse Danny evidence. I am SO over invested in this.

greenhill · 26/03/2013 16:39

I thought that Ellie's husband was from Cardiff. It would explain his Welsh accent. Whitby was only connected to Jack so far, I think it is a red herring though as he was 5 miles away from a previous murder, 15 years ago. It is a pretty big coincidence.

I still think Susan Wright's key log book should be checked for authorised access to the cliff top cottage where the murder took place. It may not be so important after what she whispered in the news editor's ear though. That was chilling. PQ does nasty/ sinister really well, does anyone else remember The Sculptress?

The plumber's mate is involved in something dodgy (crossbow in back of van) but that may be theft or an unhealthy interest in killing animals, as another red herring.

Why wasn't anyone checking up on Danny's mobile records? As Jack burnt photos of Danny he thought could be misconstrued as showing an unhealthy interest in the boy, surely he would have burnt or destroyed the phone rather than handing it in. How long would a boy lose track of his phone for though?

Who thinks that Danny and Ellie's son have been on unsavoury Internet chat rooms? Or have they been doing some sort of complicated computer thing, that required a load of files to be deleted. Will the vicar be involved in that? Or is it too obvious?

I'm admiring Alec Hardy's glossy hair though. I wonder what shampoo he uses Grin

PuffPants · 26/03/2013 16:44

I know FIFI, that's why it seems so lazy to introduce a paedophile angle now when it's already been discounted. I think they've tried to spin it out by adding layer upon layer but it's not being done very subtly.

bigbadbarry · 26/03/2013 17:14

greenhill the sculptress was great :) And DH and I were getting cross last night about nobody checking phone records and laptop.

bigbadbarry · 26/03/2013 17:17

I also think OC's son would have cracked by now. He's what, 11? OK he was worried enough to delete stuff when it first happened but surely he shouldn't just be acting all normally now, wouldn't he have cried a bit and told his mum or dad what he knew?
I read somewhere that the cast didn't know whodunnit either. Which is becoming a more common way of filming these things but I do think it might be a mistake as they don't knwo whether they should be acting suspiciously or not and surely surely IRL if you had killed a child, unless you were a very cool customer, you'd be acting a bit odd?

PuffPants · 26/03/2013 17:19

And none of them knowing whodunit probably also explains why they're ALL acting suspiciously!

bigbadbarry · 26/03/2013 17:22

I think it must be hard as an actor if you don't know whether you are guilty or not! After all, you would know if it was real. Perhaps they should just have whispered to the killer
