Mog · 16/05/2006 21:38

They did have a lovely cuddle at the end though.

blueteddy · 16/05/2006 21:38

All the parents seem to have issues of some kind, don't they?

cod · 16/05/2006 21:39

yes i htink so

the people whose baby almos died god she needs o GET over it

blueteddy · 16/05/2006 21:41

The child is fine now isn't she?
They need to just get her eating now!

blueteddy · 16/05/2006 21:42

She sure didn't appear to have red eyes anymore from what I could see!

Mog · 16/05/2006 21:44

Not convinced that Rosie was in any way traumatised by the red eye thing. Lots of kids notice blood on newborns but it's just an observation.

blueteddy · 16/05/2006 21:46

No nor am I! So she forgot to add a face to her drawing - lots of kids draw bizarre pictures!

cheesecake · 16/05/2006 21:58

I want Tanya as my best friend LOL

sparklemagic · 16/05/2006 23:00

I think Tanya does sometimes overstate things ( like the bloody eyes on the drawing) to get her point accross...

also don't know if anyone else has noticed but she seems quite 'down' on families only having one child..last week there was a family where the man had 'withdrawn' until the child was two-ish and said he didn't 'do' babies. And at the last consultation, she was really pushing for them to say that having a second was now a real possibility and the guy said "That's not a decision for this point in time" - I thought, good on him! That's what old Tanya should have been saying, I think. Great, the subject was no longer off limits for them as a couple. But she seemed to be pushing for the neat tied up ending.

Maybe there's pressure for this from the TV company, I dunno.

cod · 17/05/2006 11:06

she deliberately says to them" but you really love him dont you .. nbig pause" to get them to blub imo

singersgirl · 17/05/2006 11:14

I'm addicted too and even more so since I got a begging letter from my old school endorsed by Dr Tanya - turns out she was in the year below me at school.

She did seem to be pushing Emily on the whole bloody eyes thing - "How does that make you feel? Does it make you upset?" "Don't know. No".

It always looks as though Tanya just discovers the parents' history by chance, but I bet the TV company knows all about the background - that's probably why they've all been chosen. They've all got sad childhoods, or traumatic memories, or fears of being abandoned....

Bugsy2 · 17/05/2006 11:21

Do you think she'd do divorced parents? I'd go on it with my ex-H.

bluejelly · 17/05/2006 11:31

She should do, shouldn't she?
My ex has a lot in common with some of the toddlers...

The thing that makes Dr Tanya so good (IMO) is that she sees children's behavioural problems as totally to do with their parents' issues. V different to supernanny etc who seems to blame the children...

Fimbo · 17/05/2006 11:40

The Scottish couple seem so miserable all the time (well apart from last night at the end), when they first got together he worked away Monday to Friday in London and they only saw each other at the weekends. She fell pg within 4 months of meeting - you do the maths!!

Fimbo · 17/05/2006 11:41

Anybody else notice that Matthew is dressed in Boden?

bluejelly · 17/05/2006 11:43

Agree that the scottish couple are highly incompatible. Can't decide who would be the more irritating partner, her or him.

wannaBe1974 · 17/05/2006 13:18

think they won't last. Agree that all families seem to have some deep seated problem. I wonder then if there's a connection though? it would be interesting to do a survey of couples who were very happy and had no emotional baggage against those who did have problems and see if those with the emotional/psychological problems were more likely to have children with behavioral problems.

I do like the way Tanya interacts with the kids, generally she can get them to do things their parents never can.

sandyballs · 17/05/2006 13:31

I think Matthew's dad is a control freak

MeAndMyBoy · 17/05/2006 13:38

Maybe it was just me but I thought when the scottish couple where sat outside at the end she looked really uncomfortable.

fuzzyfelt · 17/05/2006 13:40

Sorry to crash the thread but I LOVE HoTT too.

I agree with Matthew's Dad being a control freak. Did you hear how man times he tried to get the kid to say sorry yesterdya. Must have said 'say sorry, Matthew' about 50 times. Of course, not about Matthew saying sorry at all - it's about Dad having control. Poor little Matthew is sooo baby looking - too young for time out IMHO.

I think HoTT should be compulsory viewing for all parents. Obv. the problems are usually 'severe' cases but so much for all of us to learn. I can relate in small ways to all the families this week, esp. Matthews parents - got to learn to chill out more and enjoy the chaos of having children.

brimfull · 17/05/2006 13:40

think mr and mrs boden will be divorced this time next year.
I feel sorry for mr boden, mrs boden seems depressed to me.

Mog · 17/05/2006 13:42

Dr Tanya's great because even though she's telling couples what's wrong with them it always feels like she's on their side. The other female psychologist that was on Little Angels always came across as a bit 'better than thou' ditto the supernanny types.

bluejelly · 17/05/2006 13:48

Judging by the show, all kids behavioural problems relate to their parents. Or is there anyone that you know of whose children have major behavioural problems and whose parents are completely relaxed, sorted individuals?

LucyJones · 17/05/2006 13:50

but often one child is fine and the other one isn't
