Cheering on the family is becoming a habit!

I don't get why the GP didn't take Amy in? probably they are just as bad. Maybe Amy is doing well because she is away from them, it seems they were the problem.

MunchkinsMumof2 · 13/02/2013 10:06

X post, thank you for the hugs.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 13/02/2013 10:06

Sal, I think you should. There may well have been more to it than came across in the programme, but the simplification and normalising of abdicating all parental responsibilities is so wrong.

Passmethecrisps · 13/02/2013 10:07

DH just said to me

"Tell you what. Why don't we emigrate to Australia? Take jobs which aren't the same, pay less and require longer commutes. We will send money back home to pay for the mortgage of our house which is in negative equity. Oh, and we will leave DD with the neighbours."

Sparklingbrook · 13/02/2013 10:08

I think there is so much more to this. Would love to know.

Horsemad · 13/02/2013 10:09

Has anyone checked FB yet?

Passmethecrisps · 13/02/2013 10:11

And I am sorry to say that Amy is likely to struggle for a long time. She is being 'allowed to make her own mistakes' which pretty much means given no support and no direction. She is doing business at college but doesn't like it and actually wants to be a hairdresser. I suspect she will bounce from thing to thing for years looking for somewhere or something which makes her feel she belongs.

Lois doesn't seem willing to actually act as parent which makes me suspect she knows the damage is already done as is now focussing all her attention on the boys.

Very sad.

Also sad for all you ladies who had similar stories

hugoagogo · 13/02/2013 10:14
Sad
MrsReiver · 13/02/2013 10:15

We started by rooting for the family.

I found Lois and Wayne on facebook - they're still in Melbourne, can't find Amy though.

Horsemad · 13/02/2013 10:18

She's probably 'divorced' them MrsR

Davros · 13/02/2013 12:40

Just marking my place so u can find this thread easily when I watch today's on catch up.

MrsJREwing · 13/02/2013 15:05

Is Amy not on their fb friends list? thought they spoke on the internet daily?

Salbertina · 13/02/2013 15:16

What is the Amy story, seriously? Did they lose custody of her for some reason unmentionable on air? Hence "friends" story? There must be something. Parents cannot abandon 14 yr olds in this way.. Wonder if she's bern fostered? She's owed a futy of cate by at least somebody -social services, parents, carer. But her bloody awful, inexcusably selfish, mother "is allowing her to make her own mistakes" as if she owes her nothing and said daughter is 24 not 14!! HmmHmmBiscuitBiscuit

He sympathises with mother's suffering at leaving child, not the child's suffering. Was revolted by those self-pitying crocodile's tears.

They are the very worst family i have ever seen on any reality tv show (and thats saying something! However articulate, well mannered and respectable they seem

Salbertina · 13/02/2013 15:21

Whoops- someone owes Amy a duty of care was what i meant

MrsReiver · 13/02/2013 15:23

She's not on his list, and hers is private MrsJR

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 13/02/2013 15:29

She is actually worse than the Mum in the 'poor Brendan' episode and she was shocking.

idshagphilspencer · 13/02/2013 17:21

Very bizarre set up, but I thought the daughter was now 16 hence why they could "leave her". Still dont understand it though :( Also don't get the obsession with a better future and more outdoor living.

Salbertina · 13/02/2013 17:28

She was 14 at the start - when they did a trial of her living w friends as a possible permanent move while they went to oz.. Then all of 15 when they were revisited. she was abandoned/left aged 14/15

DizzyHoneyBee · 13/02/2013 20:40

Gosh, having read all this makes me wonder what on earth she is going to be like! Just starting watching now - freedom of choice?! She's 14.

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/02/2013 09:15

So this one seems to be a revisiting a previously revisited family.

I've confused myself there..

MrsReiver · 14/02/2013 09:17

Rugby Union > Rugby League.

That is all.

Talking to myself :(

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/02/2013 09:18

Phew! Morning MrsReiver

SconeInSixtySeconds · 14/02/2013 09:20

So they wanted a house and they showed them a flat!

MunchkinsMumof2 · 14/02/2013 09:20

Morning, hoping for a less contentious episode today!
