Am I the only one who thought Sister Bernadette said her real name was Sheena, not Sheila?

BartletForTeamGB · 12/03/2013 12:35

The subtitles said "Shelagh."

ppeatfruit · 12/03/2013 12:42

Yes agree about our luck !! NotADragon Interesting about the fact that the placenta grows out of the way thanks Grin

NotADragonOfSoup · 12/03/2013 12:52

I wouldn't call it a fact! That's just the way I've imagined it as I can't really see that it can creep up out of the way IYSWIM :)

GeorginaWorsley · 12/03/2013 21:08

Had placental abruption with DC4,was full on medical emergency, crash section and all.
DC 4 ok but I had large haemorrhage and was very ill.
That was 7 years ago.
Thank God was in hospital and it wasn't 1950s

ppeatfruit · 13/03/2013 08:04

That must be worst of all Georgina because it can't be noticed on a scan before it actually happens (i'm guessing here of course) Glad it all turned out well it must be a difficult for you and your family to think about on his birthday!!

youfhearted · 13/03/2013 08:07

i was sure it was sheena, good scottish name,
oh how i sobbed when she got the letter and ring from the doctor.

would chummy have had a caesarian ? although she did haemorhage again.

MarthasHarbour · 13/03/2013 08:43

i thought caesarian youf

I can explain how placenta previa 'moves' out the way if you like, because I had this with one of my pregnancies (and it moved in the end). It was explained to me like this: imagine sticking a sticker on the wall of an unblown up balloon. It could partially cover the part of the balloon where the air gets in. If you blow up the balloon, however, the walls of the balloon expand, and the sticker could 'move' away from the entrance to the balloon so that it is not covering the entrance at all. That is the same with a placenta. The walls of the womb expand and can take the placenta away from the cervix.

Loved this episode, and so glad it fell on Mother's Day. DD and I were concerned that the good doctor was going to crash on the way to picking up Sister Bernadette/Shelagh, and when she was emerging out of the fog we both shouted 'don't run her over!' as we couldn't quite let ourselves believe they would be allowed a happy ending. I couldn't resist an excited 'they made her a woolly hug!' and I got special hugs from my dds later as I'd crocheted them each a woolly hug for Christmas.

Will miss CTM, such great casting and superb writing that draws the family together doesn't come around often enough.

Piffpaffpoff · 13/03/2013 20:16

Giddykipper we thought he was going to run her over too! We were sitting going 'oh god no, it's Downton all over again'.

lrichmondgabber · 15/03/2013 11:02

I am yet to be convinced that the lead actress has much talent. Her size is her gift apparently

NotADragonOfSoup · 15/03/2013 12:26

Size? Confused

LottieJenkins · 17/03/2013 15:02

I have just watched the last episode as I recorded DOI on Sunday and watched Crufts! Grin
I absolutely howled my eyes out and loved Dolly calling the little girl Samantha. (High Society maybe???) and Baby Fred too!
