Homes under the hammer music ... Is it just me?!

I love 'homes under the hammer' but I have recently noticed the really bad, 1930/40/50/60s music that goes with it. Has anyone else noticed it .... Bloody awful!
I know it's a random point, and I hope I don't spoil anyone else's viewing of it now I have drawn it to your attention!

Do you mean the music carefully chosen to suit each person on the programme? So if the house has a cherry tree, they will play 'big black horse and a cherry tree'. If the house is in London, they might play 'London calling'. And so on.

They had a really naff version of Electric Dreams this morning.
The bit I hate is the jaunty music they use for the Estate Agents.
I do love how they make my shithole hometown sound so great!

Exactly pseudo badger .... Why it irritates me so much I don't know why!
Fellowship, I know I heard it too ... Eurghhhh!
Hey ho, enjoy your veiwing ;)

I turned on the tv at 6.30am this morning & HUTH was on BBC2!

Thought I'd slept in and it was 10am!!

This is a long standing joke in my house, we all want the job of music picker! Yellow paint? Get Coldplay on. In the middle of a terrace? Sounds like a job for Madness! Grin

Davros · 11/01/2013 21:01

They always play Two Tribes in the auction sequence. It gets right in my wick!

BoerWarKids · 13/01/2013 05:45

Boarded up property? Ghost Town, The Specials. Always.

They once had a bloke who'd just trained in hypnosis - I put a Spell on You.

MissBlennerhassett · 13/01/2013 05:52

The music is classic but what really makes the show for me are Martin's varying lengths of hedgehog hair and his excellent 80s (I'm thinking original) blouson jackets and coats. Marvellous.

HerRoyalVagisty · 13/01/2013 05:54

I love the incidental music! It's hilarious! It's why I watch the show!

BoerWarKids · 13/01/2013 06:36

House in Wales? Anything by Tom Jones or Stereophonics.

Palm tree in the garden? Wham's Club Tropicana.

They seem to be playing more old music from 40s/50s, like the OP said, rather than modern. Do they have less money for copyright these days?

nellyjelly · 13/01/2013 06:41

It is a brilliant programme. When I was on mat leave, watched it avidly while BFing DS for hours on end.

mathsconundrum · 13/01/2013 11:10

The music choices are hilarious. They even matched a song to a toilet once.

givemeaclue · 13/01/2013 11:13

Another maternity leave fan here. Fond memories of martin and what'shername

I swear that when they finish filming the presenters go home to 1983 Grin

I used to record it so I could fastforward through the bits they repeat to pad it out and so I could get to the end of the estate agents' valuations without having to watch them tediously walk down the street together.

No one ever loses money in HUTHland. Oh no. No matter how much they paid and how much dry rot/subsidence/major renovations had to be dealt with for ages when they have no building experience whatsoever. Hmm

nellyjelly · 14/01/2013 16:03

Ha ha. I used to record too! I hated having to miss the pay off at the end and liked to ff too when necessary.

Thought it was only me who was so sad !
