read a book about her a few years ago. fantastic story, very sad though.

7up · 16/04/2006 20:16

not normally my cup of tea, but the trailer look very good, unless they just showed the good bits. prob watch it as nothing else on

Stylish · 16/04/2006 21:06

I was watching but I've just googled Mary Broad and it's going to be sad, I'm switching it off now.

faeriemum · 17/04/2006 08:47

Grin (do i get paid for this??)

7up · 17/04/2006 08:49

brilliant wasnt it, i hate that sort of drama normally but thought the acting was fab. bit grim at times and ive no doubt mary and kids are going to die but still gona watch it!

biglips · 17/04/2006 08:53

7up · 17/04/2006 14:26

9 to 11 tonight biglips, enjoySmile

zephyrcat · 17/04/2006 14:45

What happened last night? I got as far as when all the men were raping the women and then told that if any men were found in women's tents after dark thy'd be shot...... then dp turned the football on Angry!!

7up · 17/04/2006 17:13

mary ended up shacking up with the lieutenant with her kids to keep them safe and to let her hubby plan their escape. the rape scene was awful!very disturbing!she ran to the rendevous with the kids and got in the boat but the soliders caught up and openend fire on them, think the baby and possibly the little girl got killed. think tonight is gona be a tearjerkerSad

RTKangaMummy · 17/04/2006 17:34

Did anybody else think that there was a distinct LACK of children born after that night?

They arrived when her little girl was a baby and then she was about 5 years old

And there were not loads of children and babies shown

I realise it is az drama and not real life abd that staveation will have killed loads of them and wouldn't nesscessaryilary want loads of children on set for various reasons

Oblomov · 17/04/2006 17:44

Thought it was brill.
Can't wait for tonights.

shellybelly · 17/04/2006 17:59

biglips · 17/04/2006 23:57

thats was ssooo sad to watch!

biglips · 17/04/2006 23:58

BUT brilliant Grin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oblomov · 18/04/2006 07:26

Last nights episode was REALLY REALLY sad.
And I haven't said that about a drama in ages.
Losing her husband was bad enough.
But her children - it really was awful.
It destroyed her and I felt for her because the thought of how that would make me feel, was too much.
It was brilliant.

tiredemma · 18/04/2006 07:37

what a fantastic drama, so sad. A few things were slightly different to the book, but the story in general stayed the same.

Jack Davenport in his uniform........think ive fallen in love again...
