Can't believe the birth at the beginning, so realistic!

Oh, yes. The ship's woman one I found really unpleasant, TBH.

But it does seem they've plenty of material and I like how they've also managed to introduce some new storylines.

apparently after S1 many other midwives from the era came forward with additional stories to tell. Which has enabled them to write another series.

yes I cried when the carol came on and the nativity. It was lovely and so sad at the same time

Oh, that's so lovely, marthas. I wondered if they'd just made it up, or what.

I know - i was pleased that they are still all true stories.

I too have to stop myself talking like Chummy (utterly wizard!) and want to dress like Trixie and Jenny, growing my hair into the style and everyfink!

Watched it this evening. Very emotional from start to finish.

I watched it again last night and cried yet AGAIN at the graveyard scene

watched it last night and quite disappointed. i normally love Call the midwife but I found it too contrived and obvious.
shame.

and it felt like a Chirstmas Speical which it ws.. less of the gritty than usual

I missed series one... Do I need to have seen it to enjoy the Christmas Special or is the CS a stand alone story, iyswim?

I think the CS was stand alone, although if you had seen the series it would give a fuller picture.

Thoght the Christmas Day one was amazing.

I love this show, especially Chummy - she's so sweet.

Loved the Christmas episode, and think Chummy is wizard!

But the really fake snow drove me nuts! No need!

CALL THE MIDWIFE I prefer Miranda in her sit-com.
