Can't bear it - it's not funny. Feel free to prove me wrong.

OP posts:

Oh and I am probably going to get flamed for this but it's a bit unbelievable that the love interest bloke is so good looking - might have been a bit more realistic if they had gone for a character actor instead.

QuangleWangleQuee · 29/09/2012 21:08

The sushi conveyor belt bit reminded me a lot of Frank Spencer in Some Mothers Do Ave Em

RedBlanket · 29/09/2012 21:09

It's ok, there's a couple of funny bits per episode, but the jokes are a bit overplayed. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it.
I quite like That the love interest fit bloke is topless a fair bit.

Tryingtothinkofnewsnazzyname · 29/09/2012 23:32

I think having Tom Ellis in it is a nod to the female audience. It certainly enhances the, ahem, viewing pleasure Grin Plus it balances out all the TV shows in which a perfectly ordinary bloke is showered with attention from gorgeous women and can apparently take this as his due.

whyme2 · 01/10/2012 10:02

Did anyone listen to her radio show Miranda Hart's Joke Shop?

It is much better than the tv series. Same story though.

MrsFruitcake · 04/10/2012 06:26

I really like it - it does make me giggle a lot. But DH hates it, and Mrs Brown's Boys too, which I also think it very funny.

HecateHarshPants · 04/10/2012 06:31

My sister made me sit through two episodes she had on record. I've seen clips of it and thought what utter SHIT and never bothered. So I was amazed that I actually laughed three whole times. I also spent at least 10 minutes with my fingers in my ears and a further 25 cringing my arse off. I even told her to bung the next episode on when I was next round there, and I had two occasions of laughter, 4 of cringing and 5 minutes where I exited the room.

It really is the most odd programme. Mostly cringy with unexpected showers of humour.

BeckAndCall · 04/10/2012 06:32

I assumed it would be teenage humour as my DCs love it so much - but am watching it this time around and think it is 95% genius and 5% cringe.

SoupDragon · 04/10/2012 07:27

I didn't think I'd like it and there is a fair bit of cringing but there are always occasions where I actually laugh out loud which is unusual for me.

And who cares if the Love Interest is deemed too good looking? Do attractive men really only ever go out with stick thin Barbies? Besides, I'd rather look at him than some character actor :o

Panzee · 04/10/2012 07:30

I cannot stand it.

Ilovewaleswhenitrains · 04/10/2012 07:33

I'm glad I am not the only one who dosen't think Miranda is funny.

noddyholder · 04/10/2012 07:35

Awful predictable rubbish.

SuePurblybilt · 04/10/2012 07:37

Cringy. But not the worst.
The dancing bit is Beyond the Pale though. Stop it now, please.

ripsishere · 04/10/2012 07:39

I thought you meant a new series. DD loves this program me. I think it's the biggest pile of crap out there. Apart from Mrs Browns Boys.
IMO, Miranda is OK, it's the peripheral people. Mother, friends etc that get my back up.

almapudden · 04/10/2012 07:41

Oh I saw about five minutes of this and thought it was dire. She's awful! If she were a real person I wouldn't be seen in public with her.

PropositionJoe · 04/10/2012 07:49

Oh it does have really funny moments above the cringing. And at least it's clean, so you can watch it with the kids. That Christmas special with "the breast clap" had me howling.

slartybartfast · 04/10/2012 09:10

oh i love it, i love all the characters. it is such a farce, love her mum, the polish cleaning coming down for the polish Grin

slartybartfast · 04/10/2012 09:10

and tilly, love love tilly, fabulisimo

Avalicious1980 · 04/10/2012 09:33

I hated it and then watched it by accident on a long haul flight, laughed (quietly) to myself all the way through it, and now I LOVE IT!!!

Mmmmmm Tom Ellis....yum yum!

ToothyMcTooth · 04/10/2012 09:46

Total garbage.

fussychica · 06/10/2012 14:44

Totally unfunny but then I hated REV which all the press loved.

MrsFruitcake · 06/10/2012 17:16

How can you dislike Rev? 'Fancy a festive blow-job?' is a bit of a catchphrase in my house now (not in front of the kids obviously though).Grin

out2lunch · 06/10/2012 17:23

i like it - its silly humour you have to kind of go with it

Tryingtothinkofnewsnazzyname · 06/10/2012 18:17

I watched one episode of Rev after reading gushing press and was utterly bored. Have filed under 'too subtle' unfunny

psammyad · 06/10/2012 20:42

Quite like watching it with DD (13), somehow reminds me of watching things like Terry & June with my mum. Good clean farce with a few mildly grotesque characters in a Surrey setting?
