In the top ten most hated professions, estate agents come pretty high up the list (just below traffic wardens, but above second-hand car salesmen, probably). Of course, the majority are legal, honest and (relatively) truthful, but there are apparently some unscrupulous agents who'll do anything to make a sale. And it's not just small businesses that behave like this - a familiar high-street logo is no guarantee of fair treatment. There wasn't a preview tape available, and we weren't given any details of this undercover programme's content, but we're told viewers will be shocked at some of the practices it uncovers. Caveat emptor, as they say.

am going to watch this as dh was an estate agent but would like to add a very honest one.think its really sad that there are awful people out there who give the good ones bad names.some of the people he used to work with were really nice and honest others were complete gits!
will watch and see what happens!!

Oh it's just too easy to take a pot shot at them isn't it.

Like arms dealers, or people smugglers or cigarette barons.

I'm an estate agent and its about time someone has done this. Maybe people will sit up and realise that we need to be regulated. SO many aren't members of the NAEA or ARLA when i feel they should be.
Will be watching with great interest.

And some of us are nice, decent hardworking people. I get fed up with people not talking to me because of the job i do. Its not fair....

I just couldn't believe that the 2 reporters got threatened with law suits... on what grounds? Impersonating an Estate Agent?
O.k. maybe filming without permission but it was about time this got exposed.

Interested in what the fall out for e.g. Foxton's is going to be. Am sure a lot of people will be more weary now.

don't use JUST PROPERTY in HASTINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kanga, I tried to buy a property through them just a few weeks ago and eventually pulled out of the sale. We tried to view the property 3 times and were left standing (mainly in the rain) with a tiny baby and they kept telling me there was just confusion. On the 4th attempt we viewed and had been told that no one had viewed for weeks then all of a sudden on the day we viewed so did loads of others, we put an offer in but got told it was too low someone else had put a higher offer in but the vendor would think abaout it. Anyway we thought about it and pulled out (they had told us what to offer and we all know they shouldn't do that) they sounded really pissed with us ad it turned out there never was any other buyers, something we had obviously worked out for ourselves but the cheek of it for them to actually admit it. SCUMBAGS, we were already streching with our offer and they knew it.

Anyway have a property just about to go through now with Ludlows and good old mad Jeannie she really is lovely.

Kanga do you live in Hastings then, where abouts etc......

Hastings Just property were supposed to be selling DH aunt flat and they were hopeless and were trying to con us

they have useless website and said they don't have many people buying from them through the website

The flat had a deffo brill view of the sea but they wouldn't put that in details

They kept wanting to put the price lower and lower and send to aution

so we are selling iot with rush witt and wilson

No that's fine, I'm due to move to the Hastings area in the next month or so, I'm in Polegate at the moment.

Rush Witt and Wilson are nice, there bookings for appointments are a little slow and unreliable (tried to book a viewing for over 3 weeks with them with no sucsess)

Stay away from Fox and Son they are disgusting, I have just written a very long letter of complaint to there Director about the way I was treated, one of there members of staff refused to let me view any of there properties because I had an offer in elsewhere she told me she wouldn't waste her time and was rude and bitchy, she also called me a liar. Its the people who are trying to sell I feel sorry for as we viewed a property jusy up the road from them and are now buying it. So they have lost out.

Hope your DH Aunt gets a sale soon.

So many dreadful stories, hopefully they will start to realise we need regulating....
