Any big Downton fans out there who can tell me what happened in the very last episode of series 2 and also the Xmas special? Tryin to get ready for the new series on Sunday but is there anything else I missed? (apart from Lady Mary and Matthew getting together that is)

OP posts:

Why can't they bring a hottie in for Edith. That guy is a right wet blanket.

Angelico · 16/09/2012 21:55

Oooooooh what a cad that Larry chap is!

Bossybritches22 · 16/09/2012 21:55

Oh bless her she is desperate to marry.

I love Matthew even more for siding with Tom & getting him to be Best Man.

Bossybritches22 · 16/09/2012 22:02

Excellent!! Grin

US Grandma is going to be a match for the Dowager !

Angelico · 16/09/2012 22:05

Nothing ever runs smoothly with those 2....

Bossybritches22 · 16/09/2012 22:06

Nooooooooo Mathew & his bloody misplaced sense of guilt over weedy Lavinia. Grrrrr.

ScorpionQueen · 16/09/2012 22:07

He should just be grateful people keep making him their heir.

MissMogwi · 16/09/2012 22:08

Bloody Matthew and his bullshit principles. He's spoiling the game!

Grin
PeppaTwig · 16/09/2012 22:08

Gah...too many breaks Angry

squoosh · 16/09/2012 22:13

Remember when Lavinia died, they were all eating their scrambled eggs, went to see her depart this mortal coil and then went back to resume their tea.

Run away from Matthew Mary, go be a Bright Young Thing in London.

GeorginaWorsley · 16/09/2012 22:21

ooh I would have cast tradition aside and taken him to my bed....
Mind you, remember what happened last time Mary did thatGrin

MissMogwi · 16/09/2012 22:25

Bit late for the birds and bees talk, Lady Grantham!

zamantha · 16/09/2012 22:35

Loved the wedding dress - so romantic. Like Tom Branson too - interesting sub-plot.

Me fears trouble in prison.

Bossybritches22 · 16/09/2012 22:35

awwwww sniff I do like a good wedding......never thought I'd see it!

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 16/09/2012 22:36

Pmsl Scorpion I just got a text from my mum saying the same thing!

She is too much of a socialist to truly enjoy Downton though, she ruins it for herself focussing on the horrendous social inequality.

GeorginaWorsley · 16/09/2012 22:36

Me too..
Tissues needed.

zamantha me too....Bates is going to lamp the cellmate & get into trouble.

Love the Branson sub-plot too I think the character could develop quite well.

Considering Sybil must be about 16 wks up-duffed she is still looks very svelte. I love the flapper bob she is sporting!

outtolunchagain · 16/09/2012 22:42

Beautiful dress and they came in to the same music that I did . Really hope Bates doesn't mess everything up , fear he is going to be murdered whilst Anna is in FranceSad

EnjoyGOLDResponsibly · 16/09/2012 22:43

I reckon they won't make it through the reception with Lord Gs "exploding chest" becoming a full blown cardiac arrest.

Jf is nothing if not subtle.

GeorginaWorsley · 16/09/2012 22:44

Will Shirley maclaine save the day financially?
Her face doesn't move when she talksSmile

milktraylady · 16/09/2012 22:45

Hey Sqoosh I know the actor who plays Thomas and yes he's even more dashing in real life!

Loving Mary's wedding dress, beauuuutiful :)

Mama1980 · 16/09/2012 22:45

I cried Blush blame the pregnancy hormones

Northernlurkerisbackatwork · 16/09/2012 22:45

Well that was fun. Loved the wedding dress and obligatory pre-wedding row.

Branston thoroughly rehabilitated as 'the son in law who's a radical but so interesting' Grin

Schmaltzing - Sir Anthony Whatsit has a useless right arm thus apparently making him unsuitable to be a husband Hmm

Northernlurkerisbackatwork · 16/09/2012 22:47

Georgina - I don't think Shirley can save the day as her husband's money had already been passed to Cora and thus frittered on railway tracks by Lord G. Shirley will be comfortable but won't have a lot of cash. Loaded chaps tend to leave their money to their offspring not their widows because a widow could marry again and leave the cash to somebody else - or fritter it on train tracks........
