Have just acquired this, been fine for a week but tonight, all the programs it had previously recorded, now show as failed. Is this common? if so I want to get rid of it before month is up.

Not common - system hiccups now and then but usually comes back to normal next day. dh says Sky Plus has been the biggest bonus since TV went colour so bear with it and see how it goes.

Try rebooting? Unless the newer ones have an on/off button (not just standby), this will mean unplugging the power for a few minutes and re-plugging.

Tried rebooting and hasnt made a difference, the recordings that were there are no longer there. Am just really annoyed as it was the last 2 episodes of desp housewives, just want to kick the flipping thing!
DH (techno man!) says its a corrupt hard disc (how helpful is that!)
Thanks for replies

I'd phone them. Mine which has been faithful for nearly a year suddenly started not playing back. It recorded but wouldn't play back. They talked me through a full system reboot which did work but only lasted a week. Engineer coming tomorrow to sort and, best of all, it's within the 1 year warranty by about 11 days. How lucky is that? My luck dictates it should have gone in 12 days!

Mm annoying. Will Sky come and check your hard-drive for free if you are in some trial period or something?

Must say I was very impressed with sky today. The bloke came and just replaced my faulty sky box thingy with a new one. No hassle, no fuss and I called Tuesday and he came today. So if you're having a problem still I'd give them a call.
