White spirit update because I can't think of where else to put it: I've had the brush soaking on the kitchen windowsill for 30 minutes and it's all I can taste. It's now in the garden and the door is shut.

There are people who drink that. Chewlie probably, when she stumbles home from a drag club at 3.30am and finds the ornamental-globe-cum-drinks-cabinet empty.

Third coat of varnish on my new benches today sole.

It's been sitting there for over a month since the nice builders next door made it for me because the tyrant they're working for ordered them to sweep my garden.

Fair enough, they had caused a mess because they were doing so much work for him, but he made it look like I'd been moaning about them which wasn't true.

Anyway they swept up, cleaned the windows and remarked that my whitewashed garden walls needed re-doing and my bench was rotten.

So I bought 30 bottles of Kronenbourg on offer at Sainsbury's at £19 and they couldn't do enough for me.

Totally whitewashed walls and two new benches courtesy of stuff pinched from the git next door. No varnish but I'm not going to complain.

I'm going to check the builders out when they arrive at 7.45am tomorrow to see if one of them could do a bit for me in the bedroom...
