Just watched this - so horrible. I'm hoping it's Ian in the coffin & his ghost talking.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/08/2012 21:07

Im assuming Ian is dead and a ghost narating - maybe hit head in pool - as show that in the beginning

maybe it's all fantasy in his head about his friends wife - can't rem her name

Don't know tbh but good to have a thriller that grips us :)

onedev · 28/08/2012 21:15

It's creeping me though - I really don't think I like it but am still morbidly watching anyway!

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 02/09/2012 12:28

Last episode tonight. Like onedev says, creeping me out, but I'm drawn in and have to know what happens! Ian clearly never dated Daisy, he is a fantasist. He scares me and the ending last week was awful. Sounds like Stuart is a nice bloke in RL though so top acting!

MikeLitorisRings · 02/09/2012 22:01

I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the ending.

ArthurandGeorge · 02/09/2012 23:21

Me too. Bitterly disappointed that Ian was still alive!

ClaraDeLaNoche · 02/09/2012 23:25

I particularly enjoyed the naked aquatic wrestling.

Wish that horrible man had got his comeuppance.

Marrow · 02/09/2012 23:29

Can't believe I wasted three hours of my life watching this! Terrible ending.

onedev · 02/09/2012 23:55

Agreed Marrow - waste of time!

MrsTomHardy · 03/09/2012 00:32

What did happen in the end?

I got so bored i turned over half way through

LineRunner · 03/09/2012 00:40

Ian turned out to be alive, and a rapist and a stalker.

MrsTomHardy · 03/09/2012 00:49

What happened to his gf

Did this mate, the blonde bloke live or die?
Did he kill the dog?

BooToYouToo · 03/09/2012 08:29

Ollie died when he and Ian were finishing off their triathlon by swimming in the sea. Ian punched and kicked Ollie until he drifted away unconscious.

It then cut to a few months later. Ian had told Em he didn't love her and that he and Daisy were in love and had sex at the cottage. He turned up on Daisy's doorstep hoping to start a relationship only for her to tell him she despised him for raping her and never wanted to see him again.

The series ended with Ian gibbering, in a room full of notes about magic codes and numbers, calculating when he should approach Daisy again.

I have to say I was disappointed by the ending, although Ian was a chilling psychopath.

So ... the father's disappearance was just a red herring in the end.

Why did the characters always wear the same colours, Daisy in yellow, Em in red, Ian in green etc ? Almost made it like a game of Cluedo !

slartybartfast · 03/09/2012 09:07

i too was disappointed. i dont know what ending I would have preferred though. and surely once the body had been found they would have seen the bruises?

Clawdy · 03/09/2012 09:07

Guess we were all hoping for a final twist. It was a bit of a let-down,but more realistic,I suppose. Great acting from the leads.

mynameis · 03/09/2012 09:32

Really not sure how I would have liked this to end but I had been pretty much convinced that Ian was dead and narrating as a ghost, so ending was a bit different to what I was expecting

Dont know if anyone else noticed but we rewound it to be sure, when Ian woke on the last morning and was watching them all from the window, someone was standing at the side of his bed.

Thought it was going to be significant to the plot but obv not Grin

Nancy66 · 03/09/2012 11:27

....so was Ollie dying or not from the brain tumour?

gazzalw · 03/09/2012 11:54

That's the second ITV thriller in a row (13 steps down being the first one) that failed to live up to expectation Hmm - maybe we are expecting too much to expect a final twist....

Anyone read the book - is the ending similar? More or less enigmatic.....

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/09/2012 22:33

Hmmmmmmm

Finally watched the end and yes there was a twist - ie we all thought Ian was dead and actually he killed ollie

So yes he's a rapist - murderer and stalker

CapuccinoCannoliLover · 04/09/2012 09:08

Disappointing ending. I was disappointed when Ian was alive to begin with, but I thought after he visited Daisy that there would have been a final twist, or that he would have got his comeuppance. Seeing him talking inanely at the end was no surprise because we all knew he was a delusional psychotic. A shame because it was good up to the ending. However, fab acting all round.

Alameda · 04/09/2012 09:15

I've read the book, don't remember the ending beyond him killing Ollie - Ian hints at killing or maiming another child, his 'best friend' I think, in his youth though, early in the book so you know all along what's going to happen. Didn't see all of the itv thing but what I saw seemed much better than what I'd read.

Alameda · 04/09/2012 09:17

Oh Ollie's tumour was real but not life threatening, he was a sort of stoic hypochondriac.
