Emmerdale: Rhona & Paddy vs Marlon

Just wondering what everyone thinks about the storyline with Marlon trying to prevent Rhona and Paddy taking Leo to New Zealand.

If I was in Marlon's shoes I would do the same. But if he stops them then that means that Rhona and Paddy are prevented from doing what they want.

PS I do know it's not real honest!www.mumsnet.com/emo/te/4.gif

If my dp wanted to take my kids to the otherwise of the world because his new wife had a job, I'd fight him tooth a nail to stop them and be devious if nesscessary

Mike that's not really how it was. Paddy & Rhona planned to go without Marlon, when Paddy saw how upset Marlon was he invited him to go with them, Rhona was not happy. The decision to go was never dependant on whether Marlon wanted to do it or not, P&R were always going. Marlon decided he didn't want to uproot his life in Emmerdale to go to NZ. Fair call.

LovelyChops - so you'd be happy for your (fictitional) ex DP/DH to take your kids to NZ for a couple of years?? Really??

Moving off Paddy & Rhona for a bit, what about Jai? How on earth could he poss hope to keep the baby a secret simply by fixing her up in a flat in Leeds? Seems rather naive to say the least. And with Jai being half Asian, it's not inconceivable the baby could be Asian looking too and then people would be bound to wonder - bearing in mind the two of them work together + Ali. Surely she at least will be putting 2+2 together if the baby does look a bit like him. Mind you Mia was Jai's (anyone spotting a bit of a pattern here?) and she didn't look like him I suppose. Am interested about how this story will develop.

I do feel for Jai what with his brother being so excited by impending fatherhood and Charity understandably not wanting any more kids. But having a child with Rachel that he daredn't be seen with seems very dangerous and stressful for all concerned.

Oooer. Obviously I'd not feel ok with this situation if it were happening to me. However, with regards to this fictional scenario, I'm just stating that I find it hard to be sympathetic to Marlon's character.

Anyway, the actor who plays Marlon was on a celebrity edition of the Chase yesterday. He was very good, and his chosen charity was a Downs Syndrome group. Which I thought was good.

Argh ChippingIn sorry about the spoilers! That's what happens when I read the Digital Spy spoilers, then open the tab that has Mumsnet in it...

This actually happened to a fella I worked with. He married a woman, had a son and she left him for her boss who she was having an affair with. Not long after, his ex and her new fella decided to move to America. Although my work mate fought it at first, after a while he decided to let them take his son to the U S as he reckoned he would have a wonderful life over there and didn't want to deprive him of that even though it broke his heart. It was very sad.

Funny thing is, when the lad grew up he moved back to England to be near his dad and now spends much more time over here with his father than with his mum so there you go!

usual I came to the conclusion Rhona was on her way to the airport. Eeeek. I used to find Paddy just irritating and quite liked Rhona, but now! They're horrible. Feel sorry for poor Chas at the moment.
