We have WiFi, laptop, but no tv. BBC i player doesn't work "in this territory".
Does anyone know of a site where we can watch the opening ceremony - preferably for free???

TIA

Thanks Crem - but when I tried that site, this message popped up.... Looks like we access that. Anyone know of french sites which might be showing it?

"Due to Olympic broadcasting regulations, NBC is only allowed to show Olympic competition video on the internet to users in the United States and U.S. Territories. Users outside of those locations will still have access to an extensive set of non-event video content on NBCOlympics.com including the video listed below."

It is shown on the TF1 channel. It looks as if you can watch live TV on their website but you will need to create a free account first.

Here is the link to their website: www.tf1.fr/live/.

You'll need a VPN to do it. I may be wrong but if you do set up a VPN you will be able to access BBC iplayer too. Have a look here

2 things I can't live without. first a proxy thing such as view Uk tv abroad means you can use the RGB wires in a laptop to watch live Iplayer programmes. about 6 euros a month. second, and the most wonderful thing ever, www.thebox.bz you can download ANYTHING from the UK and it is legal 9well it is in Qatar anyway). We watch absolutely everything. the gist is, you download your tv and then seed it making it even faster for others. You then earn points by seeding to carry on downloading. if you fall behind with seeding, or don't want to leave your PC on, you can donate 10 euros every now and then by paypal to keep up. You need a torrent thing like u torrent to set it up. An episode of Eastenders takes about 4 mins to come down at 650 kb/s which is quite a slow connection. I admit i don't really get it but my OH IT geek can give more details if needed.

For future reference: www.filmon.tv
They also have a great app, allowing you to watch all UK channels on your iPad as long as you have wifi. It's fantastic.
Also, anonymox as a Firefox add-in allows you to access iPlayer etc from abroad by disguising your location.
Hope you got to watch the ceremony OP!
