I haven't watched the first two series but after watching the bridge I've been fancying another Scandinavian type series.

Will I be totally confused because I've missed the other series?

No its miserable shit like the other scando stuff (imo of course)

BulletProofMum · 08/07/2012 20:07

The previous Branagh version was not a patch on the originals. They are brilliant. The British version is ok. You won't be confused

cocolepew · 08/07/2012 20:07

Quick recap if you missed the others. Lots of miserable people, shit furniture, lots of shots of the horizon.

Did I mention miserable?

Davros · 08/07/2012 20:08

and don't forget, its miserable

ethelb · 08/07/2012 20:12

meee! though i prefer the one without kb

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 08/07/2012 20:52

Oh balls!

I shall give it a go anyway :)

because I haven't seen the originals I've enjoyed all the Ken Branagh ones. Tonight's was a bit gorier than usual. Good story though. But I was hoping his new relationship would work,as I get a bit sick of all these lonely, driven policemen who are too damaged to be happy! Hope they're not building up to a doomed affair with his annoying side-kick,(though she did look a bit out of it,tonight!)

campocaro · 09/07/2012 06:40

drat-fell asleep and missed it! Anyone know when/if there is a repeat as cant get Iplayer here. Thanks

SoupDragon · 09/07/2012 07:23

It was very grey wasn't it?

NellyBluth · 09/07/2012 07:58

Haven't seen the originals but I love these BBC versions. But then I have a mild crush on KB as Wallander. He just needs a hug...

Clawdy · 09/07/2012 09:38

I agree Nelly but he was a bit self-centred last night! He didn't even check if his partner was safe...on her own with a child in an isolated house with a killer on the loose!

noddyholder · 09/07/2012 09:39

KB gives me the creeps he is a good actor though but he has started to look like an old lady Grin

SoupDragon · 09/07/2012 09:43

How did the neighbour manage to dig up a skeleton, move it and reassemble it mostly correctly (apparently just a bit "messed about by animals")

AnnaMosity · 09/07/2012 09:47

I thought a lot was unresolved. Love the gloom

AnnaMosity · 09/07/2012 09:52

All of twitter was shouting "that's not a blackberry bush "

SoupDragon · 09/07/2012 09:52

It took me longer than it should to realise it wasn't set in the UK despite all the English accents Blush

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 09/07/2012 10:21

Blush someone had reffered to it as another Scandi crime so I was all ready to be immersed in the Swedish accent. I even pulled my chair up closer so I could read the subtitles on my teeny tv....

That'll teach me not to pay attention!

I enjoyed it :) But I wondered if Kenneth Branagh was as conscious as I was that his new love interest (did I miss something at the end of the last series? Or maybe a whole series? Confused) is extremely reminiscent of Emma Thompson imo....

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 09/07/2012 10:32

I really enjoyed it. Not exactly a laugh a minute, but I do like KB?
I agree that love interest looked like ET too (the actress not the alien)

Horrible interiors in the houses .

gwenniebee · 09/07/2012 10:34

Grin "the actress not the alien"!

SoupDragon · 09/07/2012 11:41

Yes to ET
Yes to the dire interiors
They could have shot it in black and white and it wouldn't have looked much different

culturemulcher · 09/07/2012 11:46

NellyBleuth you and me both. Never thought I'd see the day that I started lusting after KB... but that day, my friends, has come Blush

OatyBeatie · 09/07/2012 11:51

Didn't Wallander et al. refer to it as a blackcurrant bush , not a blackberry bush? I thought it was so funny when he squashed a blackcurrant in his hand, just to make absolutely sure that even the stupidest viewer had worked out that the bushes on the old guy's land were the same bushes that had miraculously appeared on his doomladen plot of land.

Was anyone else appalled by the completely unnecessary depiction of horrendous violence leading to the death of the polish prostitute in her attacker's car? It contributed nothing to the advancement of the story and was so extreme that I had to look away.

Yama · 09/07/2012 11:56

Thing is - would he have cracked the case had Ellika not phoned him?

I guessed it was the farmer's son a long time before KB did.

Still enjoyed it though.

Yes, OatyBeatie - I had to turn away at that bit. Dh said he found it distressing too.

Vagaceratops · 09/07/2012 11:56

It was a bit slow and bleak.

He is a bit like a sulky teenager.
