I'm really enjoying this and getting a little bit more fond of the Barlow by the minute!

I cried. Bloody pg hormones (37 & counting....) I like the tune even if the Queen seemed a tad mystified by it all!

MrDarcyPhwoarr · 03/06/2012 20:52

Harry has quite a good wiggle of the hips, hasn't he!?

LynetteScavo · 03/06/2012 20:55

Gary has aged incredibly well.

mosschops30 · 03/06/2012 20:59

He said on Chris Evans that when he went to meet her, he had everything about the song and singers prepared to answer questions and when she'd seen the song she sad 'so how long will it take for the stage to be removed' Hmm. Im not sure if he was joking.

I love Gary, hes soooo lovely. If it ever comes out that hes been unfairhful to his wife a la Ronan/ Mark Owen etc i dont think i'll ever get over the shock

Urbanvoltaire · 03/06/2012 21:03

He's lovely, so down to earth with all the musicians & singers.

Wonder how much the Queen got it, she loomed a bit lost. I did have a lump in my throat at the end of the program.

LottieJenkins · 03/06/2012 21:40

Im glad i didnt meet those guys with spears! I think i would have cacked myself!! Grin

Hulababy · 03/06/2012 21:42

He always comes across really genuine I think.

Apparently the queen was very excited at seeing Harry in the video - she hadn't known about it beforehand.

I'd love to go to Treetops

owlelf · 03/06/2012 21:46

I loved it, right until it seemed as though the Queen couldn't care less. Took the joy out of it all for me, given that the whole thing was done for her.

I'm hoping someone will home along and convince me that I'm wrong- and she did appreciate it. I mean, even if the track wasn't to her taste surely she could try to muster a little enthusiasm?!SadSad

owlelf · 03/06/2012 21:53

I have got a massive attack of the guilts for being mean about the Queen now!! Blush.

Just felt sorry for gorgeous Garry after he had put his heart and soul into the music.....

MrDarcyPhwoarr · 03/06/2012 21:53

Ah see now I think old queenie did appreciate it. She always seems to look stony faced but I think it is just that the years and years and years of having to stay professional has made it that she just doesn't show emotion.

If I were her I would crack up any time someone sand God Save the Queen. It must feel pretty awkward.

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 03/06/2012 21:54

I thought he was a bit dull when he was talking to her (me me me) and then he was a bit too present in the video. It was the worst part of the program for me!

she seemed interested and she recognised the aboriginal singer. She probably goes from meeting to meeting though and it must be hard to maintain an interested face just for the cameras!

sphil · 04/06/2012 09:34

I think there's a huge difference between her now and footage of her when she was younger, when there are quite a few instances of her looking relaxed, smiling, laughing etc. I wonder whether her face has set into a more miserable expression as she's got older - just the way the lines and wrinkles make her appear? I was longing for her to appear a bit more animated - but somehow knew she wouldn't.

WinkyWinkola · 04/06/2012 09:39

I think the Queen appeared ungracious and unmoved by the whole thing. But that could just be editing.

BrigitBigKnickers · 04/06/2012 11:32

Loved it loved it- have just downloaded the sheet music and backing track (free!) to teach to the kids after half term.
Here if anyone is interested.

maxtrue · 04/06/2012 12:03

Thanks so much for the link bigknickers - my kids were desperate for me to get this song....does make me well up its so beautiful

a great programme and loved that he went off the beaten track to find some fab music and voices

gazzalw · 04/06/2012 12:10

We watched it after getting back from our London River Jubilee galavant yesterday - it was a lovely tonic and left us feeling warm inside. Personally I think the programme epitomised the whole 60 years of the Queen's reign, being inclusive of the Commonwealth.

And yes, DW commented upon how nice looking Gary has become with age (unlike Mark Owen who was her favourite first time around) and what an all-round good egg he seemed. But agree that he did seem rather omni-present in the video which was rather egocentric methinks.....

Lovely song though!

BatmanLovesCheese · 07/06/2012 19:32

Waaaaaay too much Barlow in the music video.

But otherwise he's alright. I spose.
