Bugger, wish I had seen this earlier! I loved Jackanory, with Harry Potter being so popular now the BBC really made a mistake taking it off when they did.

treacletart · 14/02/2006 22:30

RicK Mayall reading George's Marvellous Medecine anyone?

I'm watching cos its my favourite ever

TwoIfBySea · 14/02/2006 22:35

Dh is watching his crappy programmes so I am denied Jackanory, s'not fair!

I loved when Rik Mayall read "George.." He was so good at the parts where he was describing things like the granny's mouth looking like a dogs bottom!!!!

Dahl was a genius, I have all my old books just waiting for dts to be old enough!

lucy01 · 15/02/2006 08:35

can we start a bring back jackanory campaign?

I loved it when I was a child and my two dd's would be engrossed. Who says they need all flashy cartoons all the time? A little bit of quality tv doesn't do them any harm and its got to be in line with encouraging children to read - it got me reading more.

Well, at the end of the programme Bernard Cribbens said ......

Wasn't this great!? DW and I laughed all the way through the Rik Mayall story about the boy trying to poison his grandmother. that was absolutely fantastic.
