Can anyone explain to me about The Killing, US v Scandinavian version?

I think we made a mistake in watching the US version first, which I didn't think was all that great. Then we got the DVDs of the Scandi version, which was fabulous - much, much better - but we knew the story.

So now I don't want to watch the upcoming US programmes. Am I right? Will I get the same storyline by acquiring the Scandi version on DVD?

Sorry if you think I'm being thick. Maybe the answer is just yes?

Perhaps I shouldn't admit this but I actually quite liked the US version (aside from that absurd episode when her son goes missing so they could fill 24 hours). Not as much as the Danish version though. Has (the original) S2 been shown on TV yet?
