on BBC4 just now. Watched it years ago, and just watched it again in tears. How dare 'we' the British think we have the right to take peoples children? Paternalistic chauvinism at it's worst.

The book is definitely worth a read.

I watched it years ago - stayed with me for ages

I watched it years ago then read the book and I've never forgotten it. Such an amazing story. I honestly think the guy thought he was doing the right thing as hard as that is to believe. That he was giving these people a better chance in life.
