Hell- I know I am far too late for this and everyone has said 'Bye' BUT- what was so special about the last guy's voice? Am I just too old to appreciate his style? [40s].
Found all the tears well embarrassing.

I don't think it was his voice exactly it was the song he sang.

I did like him though.

I liked him - sounded a bit like Luther Vandross ( a bit, not as good as the legend that is the Vandross)
