enjoying this. The scene tonight with the mother and daughter at the end was so touching, nearly had me in tears! Will be watching with interest.

I find this often with this sort of thing - it's like they give up on the ending and hurry it through.

There were so many other endings it could of been and this episode was dull and flat compared to the rest.

I wonder if it's to make us feel it's better we don't win the lottery Grin

iloveACK · 24/04/2012 22:12

Thought that was a great last episode. Really enjoying quality from the BBC with this & Prisoners Wives - they're teaching us all kinds of lessons! Grin

oh i cant believe they killed neville jamie and stuart will have to take the blame Sad thought it was a great epsiode until the end poor stuart ,

smallwonder · 24/04/2012 22:36

I really enjoyed it, but agree with furball, so many other possible endings.
One last episode please!!!

Mrsjay · 24/04/2012 22:42

I wonder if there is scope for another series ? only people it worked out for was bob n denise everybody else is in limbo and jamie dead or maybe not

longingforsomesleep · 24/04/2012 23:13

I thought it was a very unsatisfactory ending - though I'm not sure what ending would have worked. But Stuart had been given absolution for his involvement in the crime from Bob and told to put it behind him. Plus, without the robbery Bob's brain tumor wouldn't have been found in time. So, I would have thought Stuart could have managed to live with what he'd done. It seemed though, that Stuart's urge to confess was prompted entirely by the confirmation of Jamie's betrayal in not voting for him to get his share of the winnings. That seems out of character for Stuart I think.

Mrsjay · 24/04/2012 23:15

Yes i think stuart confessed because of jamie but maybe not as he has been looking grim all series even after he confessed to Bob ,

Nospringchickendipper · 25/04/2012 09:18

I agree with longingforsome sleep the ending was never going to be a happy one as Stuart and Jamie had both been involved in a crime. Kay Mellor said in an interview that she had spoken to lottery winners and sometimes winning a lot of money didnt mean they lived happy ever after. It caused a lot of resentment with family and friends.

whydoesitalwaysrainonme · 25/04/2012 22:44

Stuart was very restrained when his wife was saying winning the lottery had changed him. It had changed her - I'd have been shouting that at her had it been me. And erm had it been real Grin.

A very enjoyable series. I'd love them to do a second series. So much more can happen.

Mrsjay · 26/04/2012 09:14

Stuarts girlfriend always had apsirations Hmm thats really what got stuart into the problems in the first place , nothing was good enough for her was it , I do think she loved him though she was just a self centered cow ,

ripsishere · 26/04/2012 10:31

I dont think she loved him at all. She got pregnant accidentally the first time then the same the second time. Stuart was a good man and tried to sort all the debt out.
I would like to see another series, but woud be surprised if one was made.

Mrsjay · 26/04/2012 10:35

maybe it was put of desperation she wanted to be with stuart rather than love , then it was money swimming pools and st lucia she really didnt look after the children did she was quite happy for granny to do it ,

whydoesitalwaysrainonme · 26/04/2012 12:10

Second series! Yay!

whydoesitalwaysrainonme · 26/04/2012 12:10

oh but reading it, it won't be about the same characters which is disappointing.

ripsishere · 26/04/2012 12:17

Couldn't realistically have the same characters. I expect it will be people like the dog man, bar maid at the club, the temporary supermarket man, Tim Spalls sons.

mopbucket · 26/04/2012 12:50

it says the new series is about new lottery winners so will be a whole new story with no links to the series we have just watched

Smallwonder · 26/04/2012 18:57

Hmmm...just one more episode is all i wanted.... well they obviously achieved what they set out to do ... good drama!

Perhaps they could choose a MNer for the new series :o We've done our research, we love it, we would be the perfect candidates.....
I really need to get a life. I will get a life. Post baby. :)

MadameChinLegs · 27/04/2012 14:17

I think, womaniser or not, Jamie was actually in love with Stuarts girlfriend and part of me thinks he may have voted 'No' to Stuart getting the winnings to make him more appealing to her....there's no way she would stay with poor Stuart if rich Jamie was after her.

I really feel like one more episode would have rounded things off nicely.

whydoesitalwaysrainonme · 27/04/2012 20:49

I definitely think that was the reason Stuart voted no.
