What I mean is that because the others took half, John could stash some and make out the others took more so the police wouldn't know how much there should be.

I like the way he waved at the new woman boss.

I agree, why weren't the police monitoring the place if Chris had tipped them off. Was new boss woman really an undercover cop who hot caught with her pants down at the crucial point?

I thought it was a brilliant series, so many twists and turns. I was a bit confused by the ending too, but:

I think Marcus and his wife got away with it because the police didn't know about them. They drove off into the sunset with half a million in the boot.

I think the police didn't know about the warehouse because Chris hadn't been kept in the loop by John. Chris was never interested in the money because he'd learnt from bitter experience crime doesn't pay. His happy ending was to be with his wife and new baby.

John's ending was the hardest to work out but I think you have to remember the first episode when he went to the cashpoint and used his own money to top up the monthly shortfall. I think he wants to be seen as some kind of hero and will make out to the police that he knew the crime was going to be committed and stayed on the inside of the job in order to get the money back. Whether he will get away with it is another matter.

Is it just me, or did the ending have a slight whiff of 'second series' about it?

floweryblue · 24/02/2012 19:29

I hope you are right Kurri, I enjoyed it even though I could not make head nor tail of the ending

MotherOfSuburbia · 24/02/2012 22:29

Oh 5kidsandme - I disagree that he was going to try and seem innocent. His speech to Chris in the van was to show that, basically, he didn't care what happened to him - he just couldn't carry on being that dead, lifeless character. I think taking the money back was to show that he didn't do it for the cash, but for the thrill and adrenaline of the job.

MotherOfSuburbia · 24/02/2012 22:29

And I would be very surprised if there was a second series as the story seems to have completed itself.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/02/2012 16:41

what a silly ending - so he was meant to return most of the money and get off scott free? Confused

Slartybartfast · 26/02/2012 15:27

disappointed in the ending.

he will be in trouble, how can he say he is innocent if he knew where the money was.
it was quite good but with all the different time zones, you knew some of the outcome and watchign the programme was frustrating, sort of Hurry Up with it!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 27/02/2012 09:48

I don't think he thought he would get away with it. The point, I thought, was that he WANTED to become someone else and do things that the 'normal' him wouldn't do, including getting into trouble and going to prison.

I thought the ending made the whole thing into one long shaggy-dog story. Really disappointing.

BearlyThere · 27/02/2012 09:51

i was SO SO hacked off at hte end
whata waste of time
we LOLLED the whoel way through at the utterly implausiable character changes - the attempted shag at the secreatary that went nowhere
just hte whole thing was DUMB

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/02/2012 10:32

then again reminds me of the end of mad dogs and we got a 2nd series of that and now a 3rd

so maybe there will be a second series
